WTF happened to this head?1?!

Before removing it, the engine ran great! (Ran it literally 10 minutes before disessembly)...

Poor manufacturing? Overheat? Lap the sealing suraface and polish the rest.

Tyler had the impression it was overheating... and well, it does look like it... but I don't get why? It ran perfectly fine... Before I tore it down.

And it smoked white (rich idle)... so??

Looks like had Hell beat out of it w/wire wheel. Not good on aluminum.

I'm starting to agree with the wire wheel theory. The fact that it extends all the way out to the cooling fin makes me think that someone tried to clean it up of whatever was on it.

Haha, definitely not me. This head was last removed 6-7 months ago. At that time, I didn't even know this forum or what a dremel was.

Hehe, well I'll just piece it back together and adjust the carburetor accordingly.

I would lap it so it seals correctly. And polish it for flow.

Well, I placed the gasket back on, head, bolted it up, started on 2nd pull. I guess it'll stay like this until I find another head it it melts really badly.

Amazing how a engine can run like that. GO BRIGGS!

Its an old briggs, you keep it full of oil and it will run pretty much until it consumes more oil than it does gas and its just not practical anymore.

It's still running 28 year old rings. 1980..

I have a 1959 Briggs & Stratton 2HP. More compression than ANY of my rebuilt Briggs engines. I LOVE it! Always 1st or 2nd pull, regardless of the gas's condition, ect...

And to top if off, it really is 1959. VERY old style (WMB/WM) coil, aluminum? flywheel... ect. ect.
