I've never seen it drop below -2 F on Long Island.
I think the record is -7 F. Being surrounded by large bodies of water keeps it from getting much colder.
My father used to tell me stories about how he could walk across Long Island Sound to Connecticut. Solid ice.

ya mine wont do squat in the snow with those ribed tires so i found some chains and cut em to fit. they seemed to work on the wet grass seeing as how i cant spin tires in one wheel drive.
i just hope the tires dont slip in the chains when they get full of snow

When the temp drops to 10*F and tiny ice crystals that look like mashed potato mix fall form the sky instead of rain. It sucks.

It is also known for making otherwise normal folks drive like jerks...like stepping on brakes whilst driving uphill.
I wish this global warming stuff would kick in already.

Winter Season (SNOWBIRDS) drivers exist everywhere. Here, when the rain falls it's a huge panic. They also have only one speed.... 35mph (whether it's down the freeway, through school zones or in the grocery store parking lots).

Talk about winter! I think its already here in some parts of ontairio! This is after 45 minutes of snowing. We could expect up to 30 CM tommorrow morning.
