Does the engine have some sort of gear reduction built in? Otherwise I don't think it will work very well.

It looks like you have about a 20:60 (1:3) ratio. With an engine that small you should be looking at a 1:8 ratio.
I had a 3.5 hp kart with a 1:8 ratio, and it didn't have good acceleration or top speed, so...

You already have a thread about your kart, and i understand you have a problem with the chain coming off. try tightening your chain a little bit it looks kind of loose.

+1 on it running in reverse. also it does have a built in reduction. common is 6:1

Are you going to beef up the frame rails? You will get alot of flex once you sit on the frame and bounce down the road. You might buckle the tubing.

See how the main longitudinal bars are 2 bars high? This makes it MUCH stronger. When I just had 1 bar it would flex with me just sitting on it. Probably wouldn't break, but it was still not a good idea. It was a lot more comfortable before I added the second rails, due to the flex in the frame :roflol:
