Might be hard to get all your angles right but it should steer, I'd use lots of lube or a bearing to help it swivel

I'd also round the ends where it comes together...square edges tend to bind up...and make sure there's clearance for the two pieces to pass freely...probably wouldn't be a bad idea to put a nylon spacer or washer between them where they bolt together as well...metal on metal tends to lock up...not a good thing when it comes to steering...just my worthless opinion...

Yes I will be putting washers between the two pieces of metal I wash going to use metal washers but your right it would probably be better to use nylon and thanks for your idea

I'm sorry assuming the bolts are 90° through the plates that will NEVER turn with offset bolts.

IF you manage to place the two bolts at the very same angle at the very same pivot,
where's the point in not using one bolt? just like in a regular setup?

Cute isn't he...
It's an image from an advertising (cookies of some sort)
it was written
"I wanted cookies, and all I got was aunties kisses..."
(loosely translated)
I had to laugh real hard, and eight minutes later it was scanned to my computer being my new avatar (that was four years ago or something)

So you basically want to steer a kart like a tank. Lot of talk about re-inventing the wheel here. I don't mean to dis you in any way, but wouldn't it be easier just to get use 2 brakes (band, disc, scrub, feet...) and if you live through that THEN re-design how to stop a rotating wheel?
JMHO x2 ...

It's going to attach to the frame and this is a design for the steering so the wheel can move

well because this:
same_1.jpg

is the same as this:
same_2.jpg

it will not pivot.

This instead:
same_3.jpg
has technically ONE pivot hole, and would turn if the sheets wouldn't lock (but they will)
Also you'll run into problems with the angled bolt...

Just forget about it and use something like this:
same_4.jpg

this can be mounted in an angle (should be mounted in an angle ;))
