Will a 3/4" clutch fit?

I saw this on Amazon and it's listed as 3/4" shaft. Is it going to work, or is it BS?

Oh dear, it says BOTH 3/4” and 20mm. They are not the same measurements. No reviews either, bummer.
I think you should order one and “take one for the team” for evaluation. You can nail Amazon for not being true to their advertised specs, and return it on their dime of course…

For $150 ( the price with shipping ) go to harbor freight and buy a predator. Then you will know that a 3/4" clutch will fit for sure. Anyone who would advertise
3/4" and 20mm as being the same thing has there head up the back side of their abdomen.

Yeah but the guy wants a 212cc with electric start. He was asking for verification or maybe a report from someone who has one. Not everything has to be a Predator and there’s an awful lot of positives for an electric start engine, starting is so much easier for the young and old alike, and starting it from the driver’s seat (if you move the key start module to the steering wheel area) is posh. I feel weird saying that because I’m a no frills recoil-start purist at heart.

I just bought my son a Carter kart frame so we can build it together. I came across a key start 7.5 HP engine on Amazon (chinesium) for 180ish with shipping. I then found the seemingly exact same setup from Ali Express for $103 with free shipping. I'm not sure if we can post links here. If it is...

The Amazon engine link still works, 76.99 + 83 S&H = 159.99 not bad for an electric start 212cc.

But the other question hinted at is what is the crankshaft for sure --is it 3/4" (.750) or is it 20mm (.787) Only the magic hammer can tell how easy it was to slide the clutch or torque converter on the crankshaft. The hammer can get it on but what do you use to get it off? I sure saw a lot of that on the 5/8' cranks from China that were really 16mm and then I go the question-- how can I get the clutch off or your drum will not spin once I mounted the clutch because I had to "tap" it on.

Do you find manual labor is very hard from time to time? Hilarious. It will be a 20mm shaft, book it.

Always look for the positive, now the 3/16 key with fit easily in the 5mm keyway on the crankshaft. But trying to get the key that comes with the engine into the clutch that is a BIG PROBLEM. But they have been warned but we learn from our mistakes so there should be a lot of genius in the near future from buying that engine.

No argument on the electric starter. I will be putting on a built ( mildly ) 420 on one of my karts in a month or so, and am looking forward to not have to pull that cord. It will be the only one I own that's not a pull start. Luxury, or I'm getting old and weak ( well that parts for sure).

I just wanted Qtband to buy it and see because there seems to be little risk in doing so (except an inconvenience).

If it's a 20mm engine and someone buys it expecting a 3/4" shaft I expect it won't last long on Amazon. It just needs a scathing review and an angry refund.

Electric start is a luxury maybe, I won’t poo poo on that, but a great benefit on a cold, older, finicky engine because you can sort of force it to start faster than your arm ever could because the starter is cranking it very quickly through several cycles at once. Also some Youtuber showed how you can clean the carburetor/clear the jets by placing your hand over most of the intake (air filter removed), crank it and the extra suction will clear the passages and you’re choking/enrichening the air-fuel mixture at the same time (two birds, one stone). Maybe everyone does that but it’s new to me.

Edited to add: place your whole hand over the intake (seal it off) and crank it, then remove your hand, crank it and repeat, in intervals. Then try to start it normally.

Closing the choke gives you the extra suction too to clear a carb. And as a bonus if the engine backfires it won’t burn your hand!

Qtband buy the engine and give us your review of what the crank size is and IF it is 20 mm let all of us know and if you can use a clutch (not a Torque converter) I will build you one that will work. Chain size your choice in #35 or #41, #420 or #40 I will broach it for a 5mm key once you measure it and verify that is what the keyway is. The clutch will not work on a large tire vehicle so keep the tires under 13" tall. This way the engine will not be sitting on your shelf you will have a GREAT working clutch.

About three years ago a friend gave me a good electric start motor out of an otherwise defunct snowblower, to use on the go kart I was resurrecting. The motor had a 20mm crank. I bought a 3/4" crankshaft on ebay and installed it. I think the crank was about $28 and came with the needed gaskets. This could be an option.
Reading the add for that motor, it doesn't state whether the starter is 110v or 12v. Mine is 110v so it is useless when away from an outlet.

Okay so I bit the bullet and bought this 7.5 hp electric start engine off of AliExpress for $106 delivered. It came in 2 days. I started it up and used my air grinder on the shaft, very carefully, to get it to three quarters. Piece of cake.

Aren't the predators 6.5 horse and still 212cc?

Maybe they count the 1hp starter motor?

Ok, now that we have been told it is a 20mm shaft and NOT a 3/4" crank, how about the other questions raised -- what is the keyway size? what is the drilled and tapped hole at the end of the crank and most important is it a 12 volt electric start or is it 110 with a long extension cord? We are waiting with baited breath.
