Why's Diy so slow lately?

If you talk crap enough times you will get banned. Make Robert or any other mod mad and they will drop the hammer on you. Not that hard to be respectful on here and keeping your thoughts to yourself.

There was also another member Permanently banned a couple months ago and posting at diy was almost at zero...

There was also a resident poster firemanjim he got a 1 week ban for no good reason or something and just said screw this place and left.. that's what I've heard....

But the ban was they frown upon things like racisism and real world problems.

Unfortunately he had it coming and it looked like he did return again which would be the 2nd time in the last couple months. I stopped posting for a bit because I don't have much to add. I'm not well versed in this and I have spewed misinformation which ends up ticking everyone else off.

It is sad when we see these MULTI ACCOUNTS come in here and talk crap on people's threads and then switch to their real main account and then actually talk to themselves................. Sorry, but it is actually a sickness they can't get around. It is sad though that a sickness like that where you take jabs at others, then come back and agree with yourself or argue with yourself, does that to a person and at a young age, it's even more sad. I know what the mods are going through and soon we will eliminate the latest one because he seems to be talking smack in a few threads this morning alone. We need to eliminate the source period and be done with it. I know who it is and I'm sure 'they' know who it is. The truth is that they don't get the attention they desire at home and have no friends, so, they come here and stick themselves in our face. Actually, they've become a distraction. Distractions are easy to eliminate period.

I've asked awhile back if they can ban at the ip address and they can but they choose not to. So I'm surprised at this point that they haven't since he's come back twice now, maybe they will who knows. It's one thing to speak your mind on stuff, it's another to be a jerk just because you can. If smart-alec responses is all you have to offer, why even bother commenting at all or even come back? That's what has dumbfounded me. It's what got you banned in the first place.

I DO NOT BELIEVE two internet users in different house holds can share the same IP unless it's an illegal tap of sorts.. And IF one troll in a family of trolls ruins it for another sibling troll in the trolling family.......TOUGH! IP's are private therefore they can not be shared or exposed by anyone. It is considered private information like giving out ones phone or Social Security number. It can and should be black listed as well. This website CAN be set to REFUSE proxies. It's been done and it's easy to do. If someone comes into a website with a proxie, there's bound to be trouble sooner or sooner.... I just think the posts coming from that multi account user are personal attacks when you reference someone's post or item as junk or other insults! Shhhhhh, I hear him slothing in now........

(several hundred unrelated students share one or no more than a handfull of IPs)
open WiFi hotspots (crappy green coffee company -free wifi- used by THOUSANDS)
etc.etc.

Also: dynamic IPs... my IP today is different from my IP tomorrow.
tomorrow the IP I have today will be used by someone else
(not necessarily someone living in my area, only thing certain: not someone in my house!)

IPS are not exactly private.. all internet communication is IP based.
close to a phone number, far from social security numbers.
And frankly I doubt many of you have a static IP really
(static IPs are terribly expensive to maintain, thus ISPs don't like them too much and most will charge extra if you want one...)

Banning an ip wont do anything. I mean I use HMA and can change my ip with the click of a button. I think the point is, getting banned on a forum like this is pretty hard to do. I honestly find it hard to believe people go so far on a forum like this they do get banned. But i'll admit, im an avid reader, and not a poster.

I know there's ways to go around the whole ip ban thing, it's pretty much an honor system now.

That's why we should start paying members to post!

If anything, we should start CHARGING members to post; I think that would get rid of a lot of trolls & leave the forum free for those who really want to help & be helped...

As usual, you're completely wrong on all counts; the first two were banned for constant & multiple rule violations, other members left because of them, not with them...

Jim was banned after attacking another member (who was also banned) & didn't return as a result of the continuous trolling that was & still is happening...

The main reason the forum is slow (if, in fact, it is) is due to morons like you posting crap like this ^^; most people can only take so much before they say "you know what, this place isn't worth my time"; believe me, I've been close once or twice myself...
