Hi guys,

Which Predator Engine should I buy:

And what else should I purchase to get started besides the clutch.

What modifications do I need to make, kill switch wiring is fairly straightforward? Any write up/videos you can point me to?

Thanks

I'm not good with explaining wiring, especially on Predators, but I can tell you that you should NOT buy the EPA/CARB certified one! It has a non adjustable carburetor, and it's designed to run lean for less emissions, which means terrible performance. So if it says certified for California, do not buy it. If you want to be able to say you have a Hemi, look for number 60363.

even non cali are non adjustable carbs. I have had 2 hemi 60163 both were non adjustable.

I still haven't figured out what the carb ones are unless they are more restrictive etc and have a carb number.

@jmaack, so there's more than 2 models?
60363 is the so called hemi. I dont know the non hemi model number. I am not under the carb-cali models. but both of mine were non adjustable carbs. i can adjust idle speed and remove jet. no mixture adjustment etc. maybe someone else can say what a cali model is. I have no idea on them.

well crap. I thought the hemi was what they sold from 2013+?
That's disappointing.

I put a predator 301cc in mine and fabbed up electric start using a “stater/alternator” from a Yamaha golf car. The stater and alternator is only $100 NEW! Here’s a video of the go kart running. These predator motors have a lot of power when geared and clutched right.
