Let me go into more detail, I'm almost 18 and started with a pretty clean for a 92, 4 cylinder automatic Camry Sedan. That car was probably too much for me, it would go over 100mph with no wind on level ground :devil2:, Somehow I managed to drive it without adding any dents(~3000 miles) till the motor gave out.

I know I would have killed myself many times in a more powerful car doing some of the things I did with that Camry. I actually consider myself a responsible person who knows where his limits are. People actually agree with me on that, its not the typical "I'm a good driver" 16 year old bull****, its the truth.

So go ahead, buy a road rocket and go wrap it around a tree, or build a monster truck and roll it. Anybody with any common sense knows its a bad idea, you might even know it, you just ignore the feeling. If you manage to survive the crash all you will hear is "I told you so". Buying a fast car as your first or even second is like buying a liter bike as your first motorcycle.

First, My dad owns a company that I can work with so I won't have to start my own. I am also a big boater and skier, I need a truck to tow my boats an trailers and I need a truck to get me to Vermont every weekend in the winter. I'm not sure I would like a 1000 pound sedan in a foot of snow and ice on a steep road. I need a truck because it's practicle for my use. I may be able to find a cheap beater too like an old cj that I could just trailer around and not register. I'm not sure what to do yet

id get a peice of ****e that gets the job done with no mods then trash it getting more experience driving then get a good flash car
anyway as u said if u are driving in snow it is not good to have 1 million horse power to roar up a mountain at 100km then loose traction and roll right back down where u started.

And it's also not very good to loose traction and have not enough horsepower or weight to make it up the hill in the first place.

Do what i was planning on doing (before my grades went down the toilet) and get an old truck. That way you get old and cheap, but you still have payload and towing capacity.

You come to vermont every weekend in the winter?...killington? okemo?

I get the picture a little better now. just go with whatever you feel like. I would go with something not incredibly sporty either way, seeing as 99% of vt is speed traps, and the cops around here go extra hard on flatlanders.

a lil 4wd yota would probably work good for you, my 87' is pretty capable, not incredibly powerful, but it can get the job done.

I mostly go to stratton, but sometimes okemo and killington. The cops up in Vermont are much harsher on out of state people than in state residents. I'm from CT and my dad was going 10 mph over the speed limit and he almost got arrested and got fined a ton of money. One of my friends from VT was going 75 on a back road and he barely got a warning. I think Its pretty ridiculous

yea, they are pretty bad. Normally if we're speeding we just get a wave, or a quick flash of the lights, the person with ny, ct or ma plates gets a huge fine.

never been to stratton, my mom works at killinton, so thats where i go.

Yeah, killington is nice. My uncle has a house there and we go up sometimes. It's a little crowded sometimes though.

its pretty awesome actually, they have wicked nice bikes, and the trails are pretty sick. I go a lot during the summer. just be careful, some trails end up going all the way down to rt4 and you'll have to walk up or call for a ride. Not sure how well u know the mountain, but dont go down any trails leading to bear mnt or sky ship.

If you have a real purpose for the truck, then you should fit the truck to the purpose. Sorry I went off on that rant, but the info about the boats would have been helpful up front. I still think it's a good idea to get something with the newness worn off already. Nothing depreciates like a new car.

Also, it's pretty cool that your dad is in business. What kind of business does he have? I bought land last year and am planting orchards, and other stuff along the same lines, so my boys will have something when I'm gone. I don't know why more people don't do that kind of thing.

Kaptain, I know the mountain pretty well. I just bought a new kona stinky downhill bike, and i really wat to test it out so I'm thinking of heading up to killington or mount snow on memorial day weekend. Ill just look at a trail map before just to make sure I don't get lost.

Robbie, my dad is actually in the boating business so that's why I need a truck too. The boats are towed all over new England, that's why my dads 2005 truch has around 300,000 miles or something like that. The orchard business sounds pretty cool, I've always wanted to get a farm and a lot of land and maybe do something like that. I've always been interested in tractors and machinery.

If you're in boating, you have the potential to make enough money to buy land and do something with intrinsic value. It's a funny thing how you can make the most money on things that are mostly for enjoyment. In my opinion, the smart thing to do with the profit is to invest in something that has a solid value. That way wheneverl the economy slows down and people stop buying luxuries you don't end up broke.

At our place we're planting all kinds of nut and fruit trees, plus our 90 acres is mostly woods anyway, so we'll always have raw materials. Sometimes I think modern people are just crazy. Have you ever wondered why, after thousands of years of civilized living, there aren't fruit and nut trees everywhere you look? Seems like a no-brainer.

Also, you're right. If you have a farm then you have an excuse to have tractors. I also have a backhoe, a giant concrete mixer, a 110 hp wood chipper and a bulldozer. It's a lot of fun... until something breaks. Hey, if you want to see something really stimulating to your brain, take a look at a planter some time. I bought an old 2-row Deere planter for planting grains and a Cole MX planter for watermelons. I haven't used either one yet because I still need to clear out a field for planting, but anyway the machines are very interesting. You have to set up the correct gear ratio to get the correct seed spacing, and select (or make) a plate to handle the specific seeds you're planting. Pretty cool stuff.
