A few of those jobs didnt look so bad...

But you gotta do what you love, it would be so great to own a machine shop, or even work at one.

yeah, there are a few that i would be willing to do, but there a lot that i would rather not lol

and deff, if you can get a job doing what you love, yer set. especially if it happens to pay well! lol

They dont seem to understand a welding shop will charge them $75 minimum to lay one tac weld and I only charged them $50 for 2 hours work. Kids these days:rolleyes3:

I work on a ranch in Eastern Montana. I rather cattle, brand them, feed them, ship them, sort them and drive them to where ever they need to go. I also do a great deal of mechanic work on haying equipment. Just the other day I replaced almost a whole sickle bar. I have a horse, but I don't ride him much, I prefer my iron horse aka 2005 Rancher 350. I fix some fence here and there and also build a little bit of wood fence, but we are going to try to get some continuous metal fencing, which would be nice. Then I can practice my welding skills, which kinda suck. :p

I plan on taking this year off, or at least half of it, then go to college for either agriculture or mechanics. I haven't decided which yet.

I own a small IT consulting business (http://www.woodbridgedata.com) and since it's so tiny (thanks to the economy) I make ends meet in a variety of other ways.

1. Repo of constrution equipment.
2. Making overpriced "one-offs" on my lathe and/or mill.
3. EFI tuning for locals who built their turbocharged cars far beyond what the stock EEC can handle, code wise.
4. Electrical work (I used to be an electrical contractor back in the mid to late 80's).
5. Metal recycling. Sometimes on trash night(s) if I'm not exhausted I'll hitch up the car trailer and drive around collecting metal at the curb and run it over the scales the next morning.

My jobs :

Full time firefighter/EMT.

Part time patient transporter at a hospital.

Part time flagging for road construction.

I am going to be dropping the firefighting and the flagging to go back to school in the fall here. I am going for my degree in bioengineering. Depending on how that goes I might puruse medical school. Have to get impecable grades for the next few years for that to happen though.

At some point I want to get a job in some sort of metal work or mechanical realated job . Unlikely I will follow through on that though.

i just got a temporary job last Monday at a power sports place (Blackbeard Powersports, the one i mentioned before) cause the regular repair guy was on vacation and repair work was getting backed up. im done for now, but the owner liked my work and said he will call me back when work starts piling up again! (the regular guy cant do as much electrical stuff as me, thats a plus too)
its better than nothing lol

other than that, i still mostly mow lawns and do a little small engine repair on lawn and garden stuff for neighbors and other ppl i know. lol
