That would be known as a 15* angled K&N style air filter. Its not really part of the engine, Its a aftermarket thing. You should research a little bit about motors first before you attempt to modify anything.

Well yes, Your going to need a air filter adapter of course. It usually comes in a kit with a header, filter adapter, filter and a larger main jet. Here is a excellant kit here.

I made my own air filter adapter from the stock air filter on my HF Clone.

I took a hack saw and starting cutting. I was able to make a nice little adapter to hold the air filter on. The hole is not perfect round but with a clap it hold a small filter on with no problems. Then all you need is a cheap filter with a 2" end.

You will need to make a little bracket to hold your chook lever down. Notice the little tab coming off the starter cover? Just use a sheet metal screw and the little tab.

Here some pics.

I am going to make a thread about this mod. Maybe other can use it.

Just cut off your old muffler and use that exhust flange. Then find a pipe and weld it to your original flange. All you need is a pipe and a weld.

Thats all I did in the pics above. That short pipe you see hass baffles in it. So not really a strait pipe.

I would advise against cutting off the muffler, just in case you ever want to use th muffler again. Get a piece of 1/8 inch steel and make a new flange.
