Hi Guys!
I got hold of this non-running toro mower, self-propelled, took the carb off, found out it is a Mlkuni, with "90690 V7X1" written on it, other than this there is no other text.

I searched the archives, and it seems Mlkuni is a good brand? What model do I have here? You guys mentioned some numbers, such as 22mm, 36mm, where do I measure it? The diameter of the throat?

And what is "flat side" ?

I googled quited a bit, but could not quite find any repair manual for it, and I could only manage to take the bowl off, other than that, I cannot seem to find a screw. Is there a repair manual or site talking about repairing Mikunis?

Sorry for many questions and thanks in advance!

Thanks!

What flat side and round side means is what meters the amount of air. In your case that carb doesnt have a slide. It has whats called a butterfly. That would be the round brass plate that opens and closes when throttled up and down. Normally only performance carbs have flat or round slides. Here are some pictures. The first picture is a round slide and the second picture is a flat slide. That carb is in no means a performance carb and is much smaller than 22 mm.

Thanks a lot! I got the pictures... so the "side" is actually the side of carb parallel to air passage... 22mm is the diameter of the throat? Both carbs on your pictures are much more "professional", to be lack of right words. :p

That carb is a piece of EPA trash.

You meant mine, right? :D

I think I got the carb fixed. It was the main jet that got plugged, I took the main jet off, and socked it in Carb cleaner for 10 minutes, did not work, so I cut a brush wire from one of my paint brushes, and pushed it through the jet. Seemed fixed it. :D

Put it back on, the mower runs like crazy, I think I did not put the governer back on correct. Should have taken some pictures before taking things apart.

I googled some, it seems mine is a Suzuki 2 stroke? :D

went to toro site, and their service manual is extensive. should have thought about that earlier.

fixed the governor problem, it runs strong!

Another question, this mower comes with a 3 speed transmission, is this strong enough for a "regular" kart for kids?

Thanks!

The trans will not work for a cart, the engine will need to be equipped with a diaphragm carburetor so it can be set up in a horizontal shaft position.

The Suzuki 2 cycle will outlast all of us. I have the numbers somewhere. Life span is something on the order of 30,000 hours or roughly 6 times that of other engine makes.
Although I believe it is "kartable", might be better off keeping it as a mower as long as deck is in good shape.
Also, trans is meant to propel mower, not people.

Thanks Kenny and Russ.
I guess I will find something else for the transmission.

30000 hours for a lawn mower engine? I cut grass twice a week, 1 hour maximum, giving we have about 2 month summer time here, :D, that is 4-8 hours a year, this engine is good for 3750 years, for me anyways. :D

Put it another way, lets say, assuem this engine is good for 20 years, that is 1500 hours per year, that is like 4 hours every day! WOW.
