I picked this kart up last night for $70. She needs some love but trying to find out what make and model it is. Also going to be looking for parts.
The rim has margay cast into it.

cool find..
the kart itself doesn't appear to be a Margay though.

All Margay karts that era (like the Cheetah, Sidewinder or "New Breed") I know had a seperate rear bumper (to flex adjust the chassis)
Since yours is a continuous frame loop and worse with a welded on 4stroke engine plate..
it's more likely a yard kart

but the good news: at worst you can sell the Margay Wheels for 70 bucks a pop (or more)
And still end up with a nice yard kart in the end.

PS when in doubt, contact Margay (margay.com) and check if they can identify that to be one of their karts

From the margay site it shows that it is a Scat-Kat Fun Kart (1975). I wonder if it was meant to be a yard kart.

fun kart == yard kart
recreational.. non racing..
usually for younger folk in the back"yard" for "fun"
instead of on the "track" for "race" ;)

True.. Scat Kat... might very well be a Scat Kat..
totally forgot about that thing since the margay website doesn't have it depicted (just mentioned).

but I thought the seat strut triangulation was always capped tbh
[here's a Scat Kat]

but apart from that it very much looks the same..
So maybe just a different DOB

Nice find

Even if it's designed/designated a "fun kart" it's still a Margay :2guns:
…& so, should be of good quality :cheers2:

Kinda like a Corvette, (street legal race car) is designed/made by Chevrolet (street legal fun car)

* I'd keep them wheels on 'er
...I think they look kool :sifone:

goes without saying that you keep Margay wheels on a Margay kart!

it's the "not a Margay kart" situation where terribly expensive and rare wheels might
not fit the equation ;)

That is true. I sent a pic to margay to see if they can help me verify if it is a true margay

New paint, brake line, throttle line, predator and ride it with the boys. Trying to keep as much of the original parts with the kart.
