my cousin just got this frame as sort of a foundation for a go kart he wants to build. we wanted to know what it originally was and what it looked like before it was butchered and regurgitated with all the ugly parts and welds it now has. one major defining feature i noticed was that the frame was adjustable. you could change the length of the frame by adjusting some nuts on a threaded shaft under the seat(picture below). hopefully that helps?

Clueless.
That's a funky lookin' frame!
I don't know the extent of the rust, but I wouldn't really trust it as far as structural integrity.

Ouch...as positive as I try to be...it looks like scrap to me... sorry... maybe something cobbled together?

yeah, it is rusty, but ive inspected it myself, the metal has not corroded terribly and was rather heavy gauge. i had figured it was an actual manufactured go kart, though, because i can’t imagine a thrown-together scrap kart with an length adjustment system like that.

I agree, looks manufactured and what I see is surface rust and not the cancerous, eaten-through type.

Looks solid.

I doubt a manufacturer would weld five pieces of cut tube together to form a backrest.

that thing is homemade IYAM...
a professional mas produced kart would've been bent wherever possible not welded from segments.
