The Predator 420 is a great engine I put one in my tractor over 2 years ago with no problems so far. It is beat on hard. But I think it would be a huge mistake not to go with the Predator 670 in the long run. Look for coupons on line and wait for a sale I paid $567.00 delivered to my house for mine.

At that rate a 125cc or 150cc pit bike engine would almost be better. Similar power and price. Think the 125cc is only an oil burner 2 cycle but would be plenty and would come with a transmission built in so no extra cost for a torque converter. Just needs a chain and you to figure out a clutch and gear selector setup but that should be too hard.

do not listen to this, the 150cc does not come close to the predator or any motor on here, they are completely different from what you are looking for. If it were me i would just save up for the 680cc. From looking online the same kart came with a 18hp briggs installed so you already know your kart can handle the power. just wait and save up

Yeah, they made a 18hp Honda version. I am just concerned that the extra power from the 670cc might break the transaxle. That transaxle is super rare.

Is 18hp to 22hp suicide?

The hp isn't what's going to kill it. It is the torque. So I would find out what the torque rating of the Briggs was and compare. But I still think you'll be fine

Look on line for coupons! I found a 25% off one when I bought mine but have also seen them as high as 30% off.
