So my Manco Deuce is running a little rough and I am not looking forward to breaking down on an off road trip. I have given the 12hp Tecumseh a tune up but its still feels tired. My deuce is topping out around 25mph and is very sluggish. I need more pep on a sub$00 budget.

I have had recommendations for the Predator 670cc, but at $700 its out of my price range.

I guess the best bang for my buck is the Predator 420cc @ $360 vs the Duromax 18hp @ $320

Do you have any other recommendations? The kart is very large and needs 12hp+ to get moving.

Hmm, I'm not sure how much I trust those HP ratings; the Lifan & the Predator are both 420cc but, have a 2hp difference; then there's the duromax which is 18hp but only 20cc more capacity than the other two

In any case, any of the three should be ok, providing you already have a 40 series TC...

My best advice is do some research regarding performance or even replacement parts; the one that yields the most positive results would be my pick...

Yeah the Deuce can handle up to 20hp. I already own two predator 212cc and they run great. I wouldnt mind the 420cc knowing I can mod it to a higher hp.

It seems like all of them are the same set up and configuration. They even look the same.

if your interested. carsandcameras modded their 670cc electric start so its mounted on their steering column. if you go the electric start route then i would definitely consider rerouting the wires and box.

I already have my ignition key at the wheel. I am now leaning towards the lifan 15hp with the 18amp charging system. I have a 32 inch led light, 12v power outlet, so having a charger really helps.

They have a Predator 420cc drift trike they have been working on. They chose the 420cc for the electric start and for adding lights later.

Im leaning towards the lifan, anybody have any luck?

I have no personal experience.

However, from my casual research into it for a future project, I think I would go with the LiFan just for the better charging system for LED's and radios. AFAIK the header's and carb mods interchange on all of the "clone" engines, apparently HF just deviated a little more than the rest.

well i can tell u that the lifan isnt a 18amp charge unless they have fixed their problem. It is actually a 3 amp. Also if it were between the ones u have up there i would be getting the predator as u can get a warranty with it and are local.

IDK about the charging situation, but I can get LiFan engines at my local Home Depot, unless they are tricking me again. One more reason to do so, for me, is the HD offer's 10% off to veterans.

Thanks to both of you. Does anybody actually own either?

I do not, and I checked the site, they are web only, so the veteran's discount doesn't apply. Although your local store may or may not have them, or a similar one in stock anyway.

The Predator 420 is a great engine I put one in my tractor over 2 years ago with no problems so far. It is beat on hard. But I think it would be a huge mistake not to go with the Predator 670 in the long run. Look for coupons on line and wait for a sale I paid $567.00 delivered to my house for mine.
