well with about $200 you can get that thing spinning alot more
all you need is a billet flyweel, billet rod and header (optinal) and take off the govner
It would, however, I would suggest sheet metal as it also shields you from water, dirt and dust that may be thrown up, as well as rocks, e.t.c.
Also most likely cheaper.
we have a photo of the governor on our "Aussie kart" thread... its basically a nylon cog which has a little brake on it, which brakes more as you open up the throttle, i.e. governs revs whilst increasing mass flow.
