Wanted briggs and stratton carburetor

I need a carb that will fit on an 8hgp engine. The "updraft" style one. It is the carburetor that attaches with an elbow

Actually i cant find one their, i was hoping i would. If you can find one, please let me know!!! Its gonna be 135 out the door for a new one, and honestly its not worth it to me.

Does bowl (top) have 3 or 4 screws holding it together?
I may have something. No promises.

yes, their are 3 screws. Their are 2 adjustment screws , 1 by the butterfly area and 1 diagonally at the bottom. Thanks!

The reason for a new carburetor is because the old one cant be taken apart due to a stripped threads and a stripped jet in the bottom part (hi speed jet). Do you think its plausible to dill out the old jet and threads, rebuild carburetor, then use a heli coil for the hi speed jet threads on the bottom of the carburetor? Thanks

I dont know if you'd find any Helicoils to fit your jets thread pitch/size but you could check around.

I was thinking you might be able to find a new main Jet with a bit larger outer thread size, then tap yer carb out to fit it. If the new Jet was sized too rich, you could just solder up its orifice and then re-drill it out as necessary to correctly jet your engine.

If your carbs other stripped threads had enough meat around the holes, you could probably tap these out to the next larger size too.

i think its a 5/16" fine thread jet. Do they have helicoils like that?

no. I've had engines with helicoils in the spark-plug hole. worked fine.
