Ok...I'll just throw this out there : There's a recommendation of a Black Mamba Jr. cam here...which could potentially turn 7k. I don't think it will...and if Joe shows just a little restraint and common sense...even if the vehicle could get there...I don't think it will.
Another suggestion is to run the stock cam...which would be OK...but it's a plastic gear.
I've got a suggestion: the 230-0211 from Nnracing...it's a torque cam designed to run 5500 rpm...so it makes all it's power down low. (Opinions on this cam, anyone?)
If he decides this cam isn't enough it would be easy to upgrade later...(nobody ever downgrades) ...but it would make that engine super reliable with the stock flywheel and a step above stock. For a little more top end, the 230-0611 turns 6k+ (supposedly with a wide powerband) and would still be running a bit less rpm with the stock flywheel.
IIRC...these will require an offset key...so he should definitely lap his flywheel.
Regardless, he needs to adjust his gearing as previously mentioned for more grunt.

Well you could, but keep in mind that you loose the balancing if you add magnets..
(frankly I'm not even sure the magnets fit... I doubt it tbh.)
and well..worse if you remove material to make room for the magnets;
it'll be nearly impossible to balance that flywheel again without a serious machine shop.
so you might end up with a less secure flywheel than before (which was balanced WITH magnets)
Your choice of course, but be careful.

It couldn't run without one.
I call BS on this one....the shroud is perfectly round..(is off..but not torn off) and the shroud is dented IN!!!! A sledgehammer will break a billet flywheel too.

Keep in mind, that when in doubt, the Owner and Admin of any forum is held responsible for ALL content on his website.

We as much as the guys on OMB like our members to stay safe when messing with karts, mini bikes and all vehicles that are around.
They're just extra-careful...
We deal with more decent people here (at least so we hope)
and as that we claim a stock flywheel should be good even at 6k rpm..
if treated carefully.
we also believe that if you notice an imbalance on your engine at higher rpms,
you're smart enough to back off and check all moving masses and replace when necessary.
(in case your flywheel itself is perfectly fine, just not fit for the speed)
It all boils down to this:
If you did wrong and you fail, get hurt or worse.. it's your fault.
if you did everything correctly and you fail, get hurt .. or worse...
still NOT OUR fault.
or short: "you take the responsibility for all your actions!"

Yeah I noticed two things in that thread that make a difference. First..."ABOUT" 6100 rpm. How are they determining rpm?

So...since govenor removal only gets you to 5400 or so....THAT point is mute...but more importantly is "slightly modified" ...that's different than stock.

Parts were supposed to arrive yesterday according to USPS.
They're still in Tallahassee.
Did about 20 mi of some serious off roading yesterday with a buddy, only lost a few bolts off of the crate, did a little panning, but found no gold.

Its interesting how that vid is slightly delayed and to the effect didnt list all of the variables to the demise of the engine. I think this hardcore aproach to there no gov/billet flywheel issue is kinda childish.... especially when there isnt really enough evidence to support it(that they have provided).
