Looking good so far, but if those are Harbor Freight wheels, they should only be used in your mock-up. Don't ride on them!

They look like HF tires and wheels- which are only good for about 5 mph. I think it may be the washer on the spindle making it look like those crappy low speed bearings. .....

but there is no washer on the spindle, we just thre the tire on for mock up.

How do I find out if these tire will hold up?

Wait until they break in a catastrophic manner......

No seriously, they arent made for really any speed, looks like made for a wheel barrow.
If the tire dont give out first, it will be the bearings shortly thereafter. They arent made for any real loads or speed you are about to subject them too.

Edit: What kind of welder are you using, things are looking kinda weird???..

Yeah- with the close-up those are definitely not high speed bearings. They should have dust sheilds and ball bearings. ...Those are just bushings....The tires should have highway ratings. ...Hope you didn't pay much. You could possibly change bearings....

Can you post up a picture or two of the sidewalls?

Just got an e-mail back from the supplier.
"Recreational gokart tires are rated non-highway use.
No information is available on speed. "

How in the world do I change the bushing?
Sorry I have no pics handy of the side walls.

Should be able to knock them out with a wooden dowel or a rod of some type. Then you have to measure what size the housing is and see if there is a type like that out there. If not.... Id say find another wheel/hub that has more of a more common bearing size.

Ok I know that the bolt I welded to the spindle is a 5/8"x5,
so, can anyone please tell me the correct bearings to get and where i can get them? I'm also fine with getting new rims.:surrender:

The bearing size will depend on the rim. They will be a sealed cartridge ball bearing type. So something with 5/8" ID and what ever OD of the new rim.

Ok, what would be the best thing for me to do, buy new rims or replace the bearing. And I really need to know a good online source for this stuff. Ty in advance:huh:
