Vintage RC10 Revival!

Ok, here's what happened at Indy RC World:
I showed up with the RC10(with beater wheels all around), and got signed up for the Future Champions youth class and the Run What Ya Brung class. Until we got there, I had no idea a transponder was needed, but thankfully one of the guys there had me covered, so that was a huge plus.
Then we had some serious issues with transponder interference. No matter where on the car we put it, it would either override the steering or the throttle, which of course would not do. Eventually after trying to figure it out, the basically just said "Hey, we don't want you to wreck this car, so how about we lend you a Bandit instead?" so that's what happened.
I rented a Traxxas Bandit for $20, and I had a ton of fun!
Then we found out the Bandit was one half power!!
The guy who loaned me the transponder got it to full power, and man! Could that Bandit BOOGIE! I did a lot better with full power, although all the 4WD cars had more traction.
The biggest advantage I had was a good knowledge of racing lines, so I was able to turn in consistent, fast lap times. In the Future Champions division, I has a big advantage because I wasn't wrecking every lap!
The other racers were going every which way while I weaved through them!
The RWYB class was stiffer competition, but I still held my own.
Aaalright....I admit, I was kinda nasty on the track.
Since the trucks were so much faster that me on the straightaways, I would just turn into their path eeever so slightly, and since it was one buggy vs. a whole field of trucks basically, I could practically launch guys off the track like that!
It was fun.
I ended up getting 3rd place in the Future Champs division, so that got me a $3 track gift certificate. That was neat and unexpected! I just spent it on 2 cans of Dr. Pepper and a package of can for the ride home. We didn't get home until 2 AM.
The main reason I got 3rd was because I got good at sending people off track by using my car as a ramp.
I need to put some kind of aftermarket suspension on the RC10 before I race it, basically just make it so if I snap an A-arm I won't care. Unfortunately it may be a while until I get back to the track, since my dad was put off by one of the guys vaping indoors, and how late the racing lasted.
Ah well, my GRANDPA wants to take me to the track!
He's got a twin RC10 with a green VW beetle body on it. Chances are he'll just buy me some suspension parts for the RC10 and take it racing!
And of course a 2.4 Ghz radio system, and a transponder......
That'll probably cost about $300!
But I mean, he IS a dentist, and he was the one who bought both RC10s in the first place.

My entries are for JT Alexander, these are all the races I was in.
The races are in order left to right, going down.
For the most part, I got about 75% consistency, and in the A Mains(The finals) for the Future Champions division, I had the fastest lap!
Essentially, all of the races where it says my fastest lap was more than 6 seconds were when my car was on half power.
I know I was gonna do a video, but that kinda fell through. Ah well.

Dude told ya you probably wouldn’t want to race it, and so did the other guys at the track. And THERE IS NO “aftermarket suspension SYSTEM” that exists for rc cars. Yet you can buy higher quality parts for it, the brant I use and many other people use is RPM brand. Very good quality yet expensive for what it is. I have no clue if they make parts for it anyway. And oem suspension parts may be expensive for your buggy as it is a vintage

I'd look into buying and racing a Traxxas Slash 4x4. All you need from beyond the box are the sway bar links (I like the stiffer ones), ESC fan and Velineon motor fan. Newer ones come with Traxxas Stability Managment (kind of like a real vehicle with traction and stability control). The VXL is rated up to a 3s LiPo battery. I've beaten the holy crap out of mine when I've ran it around the yard. Traxxas offers billet aluminum parts for it. I have yet to break any of the stock parts on mine and I've had it for quite a few years now. All I really need is a new battery and motor gear (set screw is stuck on the motor shaft).

4WD is certainly appealing, but I prefer the buggies, both for looks and the fact that I can use my car as a ramp for the trucks.
Any suggestions? It's probably going to be Traxxas in the end, I saw a lot of aftermarket parts for them at the track and I heard very good things, as well as a good firsthand experience.

Well I think there are some 4wd buggies that’s you can get. I have enjoyed friends traxxas truck, yet I have not owned one, only driven some. I have only had Redcat brand, and have had only issues of breaking parts from my bad driving. I think it is a good brand also
