You could use a carb from one of the Chinese pit bikes, we tried this also and performance is great. You will need to make up a manifold for it and install a port for the decompressor tube. These carbs are available on ebay ex Melbourne for about $45. I'm going to use one of these on my 160. I will post some pics over the weekend and you will see the manifold.

Got a pic of your set up? I've been thinking of getting one of those for a Victa. :)

I've got a Carb off a large chainsaw that I'm planning to use on a future Victa mini bike project. If I remember correctly it has a throat size a tiny bit smaller than a G3 but a much larger venturi so it will flow better. More importantly to me, it has high and low speed fuel adjustment (vs a g3 where nothing is adjustable), it's a diaphragm carb so I can mount it how ever I like and it has an inbuilt fuel pump.

I'll make a note to take a photo tomorrow in the daylight - I ran out of time over the weekend..

It would be interesting to see how a carb from a large chainsaw goes. I don't know what size the chainsaw carb on my friend's Kart was, or what saw it came from. We never got his to run well, but that could have been a carb full of old sawdust too!

My manifold will suit a normal float bowl carb. I still have to install a port for the decompressor - I definitely want to keep the decomp, I have started a Victa without one before.....

Cheers

With my legendary reputation for not finishing projects and my current position in life, you might be waiting a while. :roflol:

It's amazing how hard they are to start without the decomp. I've got a Robin DY27 diesel that's arguably no harder to pull start! Fwiw the decompressors work fine without the line hooked up. Obviously make provisions for it if you can though.

I might have to blow my student spec budget and buy this. Not only is it a Victa setup as a horizontal engine, it appears to have the 5/8" keyed shaft! I don't really have a use for it but so much want. :D

I could stick it on my go kart, I've already got a 160 for that but I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to fit a 160 top end to a 125 bottom end with nothing more than a custom little end bush or by rebuilding this crank using a <1974 160 conrod. Might even simply be able to use the pre '74 160 bushing.... Hmmmm I might have to go rummage through some parts.....

Here's my Manifold

The flange is about 70mm. The engine side fits over the inlet spigot and mounts hard against it with an o ring.

I will be making a brace, because with the carb hanging off the manifold the whole assembly will be heavy and more than likely vibrate loose.

When I get the carb I will post another pic of it.

By the way, Sideways - Grab that edger if you can, they don't come up very often!!
