well obviously a 3.5hp Briggs and Stratton Quantum Power
The exact Model number is stamped above the spark plug or over the exhaust.

should also start with 11 since I believe that's a 179ccm engine (or 11 cui)

well, the bad news is.. the cheapest predator (or rato or clone or original GX...) I could find in Canada was 200 incl shipping...

So yeah, if you find another engine (any gx200 series or clone will do maybe gx160 even)
for cheap, then go for it, much nicer than a modded vertical engine...

if that's an option that is ;)

If you have the tools and the possibilities to convert such an engine to a horizontal shaft, I'd go for it. You'll learn a lot from the engine internals, how everythings works, etc. Sounds like a cool project, if you're up to.
