I usually just email my pictures to the computer :p

The phone I took the pictures on wont send txts or call, I don't think you could even send emails on it if it still worked properly. Its got an okay camera on it that still works so I use that in the shed (coz it doesn't matter if it gets ruined), I don't have a good camera atm so yeah. I can borrow one though (which I will), that wont show the pictures of the dipper though. The phone used to connect to the computer but I got a new one and stupid Windows 7 wont recognise that the phone exists. I'l connect the phone up to another computer when I next get the chance. (And in case anyone's wandering, the phone in question is a Nokia 6120c)

As for the engine, Its got carby issues, I put a bit of fuel down the spark plug hole and it reved but it just wont keep on going. I might bolt the mower blades back up to it, just so its easier to start, I'l put a different carby on tomorrow. Hopefully I'l have photos up by then too.

Thanks

Hayden

Did you flip the carb?

Obviously...

The carb had this stupid automatic choke setup that never worked, you had to hold the choke open for the engine to run, I removed it, took the carby completely apart while I was there, everything was quite clogged, all full of dirt, the diaphragm was fairly hard too. This carby has never really worked properly in the time I have known the engine, I'm just gona replace it. My crappy modified inlet system probably doesn't help to much either :D lol.

Thanks

This thing just keeps on giving me problems!! I put the new carb on, it ran for a couple of seconds then died (auto choke closed up), I went to pull again and it backfired and ripped a bunch a teeth off the gear in the pull starter, now I need a new pull starter! And no, there isn't anywhere that I can just wrap a rope around and pull, the engine had a side starter :(. I should be able to get a new one by Wednesday.

I name this "the engine that could, but just really didn't want to" ;).

Thanks

Hayden

Any progress Sideways???

Not really, can't get the **** thing to run for more than 10 or so seconds coz the stupid carby won't work properly, I might take the diaphragm out and soak it in some brake fluid for a while. Because of my inlet mods the auto choke wont work now. I might just modify it to make it into a manual one.

This thing chews pull starters, broken 2 beyond repair so far and one rope.... Side starters are **** hard to find!

I'l post photos when I find the camera.

Thanks

Hayden

For now you should use a drill to start it. Sound like you may have a large air leak on your intake mod.

Don't have a socket that will fit, not one deep enough anyway. The intake is fine, sealed well, It's just the crap 31 year old carby that's the problem.

I doubt it would hurt the stater at all, Id say the flywheel would be a normal weight on one of those because they don't always drive something like a push mower does.

cool good to know you got picks or a vid would be better of that thing???

I'l get some pictures soon, can't get the Nokia to work now. I don't have youtube so I can't post a video.

I found a ball bearing starter thingy today that I'l put on it, I'l try and make a kick starter out of that. It'l certianly need it... I'm down to my last side starter now :(.

I've got another newer, higher HP Briggs vert that I'l convert, I'l document it with the good camera this time.

Thanks

Okay, here's some pictures.

Pipe for the oil filler.

I simply slipped a piece of poly pipe over the original intake pipe and got another pipe off a spare Briggs and put that in the poly pipe. The poly pipe was a super snug fit, I had to heat it up to get it on there, I greased it up to keep it airtight. I had to extend the intake out because the carby couldn't be turned with out hitting anything. You will of course need a bracket to hold the carby in place.

Now I'm making up a new inlet for it to mount the carby from a Suffolk Punch on it so it will run properly. Kick starter is in progress too.

Thanks

Hayden

A bit of an update, today I mounted that Suffolk Punch carby on it probably making it the most under carbed engine in history but hay, at least it will work now. The air filter is from a Victa.

I haven't run it yet because I don't have any fuel, I'l get some soon and take a video.

I put the oil filler back were it was because the pipe was destined to come off and kill the engine, dunno how I'm gona check the oil level now though :roflol:.

This engine has some fairly big things coming it's way soon, just wait till I get a decent tap and die set!

Thanks

Hayden

i saw a guy take a peice of sheet metal cut and bent like a reverse "J" and bolted it on to the bottem bolt on the conn rod, then made some carb mounts and ran it for a few years then sold it. It ran like a champ i was impressed
