unfortunately this will no longer be a vertical shaft kart.

the 8hp engine you have seen will be going in a old cub cadet rider, already set up for vertical shaft... that makes it a whole lot easier on me.

the engine for this kart will be the original engine that i got it with, a really old Tecumseh H60. the vertical Tecumseh 7hp that came out of the cub cadet will be used for parts to make the H60 complete.

the headbolts on the top have been wire wheeled, they are from the H60. the headbolts on the bottom are right out of the 7hp.

ewwww

my best friend. got it for $50 and it does a great job!

Blue, This is how I held down my battery in my Ody. Just glancing thru your thread and seen you have not hold down yet.

Also your welds are way better since I been gone. Looking good bro.

I wasnt gonna say antything but im glad to see your not using that tranny. Those arnt that strong and wouldnt hold up too long with that much power. I blew out gears on those a few times even with a worn out 5hp. I had an extra so i always had parts to swap in but i eventually switched out to a stronger unit

opened up the tranny. this one doesnt have a brake so i probably wont use it. its full of water too...

then i opened up Randy's. this one has a brake. but the reverse is a chain :(

im going to get a quote on how much a longer shaft will cost to make, so that i could put a sprocket on it (input) and run the chain off the torque converter into the input for this transmission!

how much should it cost to make one of these but 2 inches longer on one side?

HEY making the shaft longer and running it in through the side sounds like my idea.:D

What size is the shaft and what if any special milling work would it need ?

You do realize that you would just be makeing an expencive jackshaft :worried2:

with reverse and 3 gears though! maybe im just nuts and im anxious to use the extra TC i have.

the more i think of it, your engine is bigger.. and will work without machining the part. if it costs too much then i wont do it. (i know a guy that knows a guy that owns a machine shop)

its 1/2" needs 2 grooves for c clips, and 3 keyways in specific places and then another keyway for the sprocket.

thanks for the idea... lol mind if i take it
