How did you get the engine parts so clean?
Wire wheel, on my bench grinder. It was $50. First I washed the parts, then wire wheeled them. Don't wire wheel the machined surfaces unless if there's a need... But the valves, top of piston, bolt threads, that kind of stuff you can harshly wire wheel. It takes it down to bare metal.
I dont care if you use it, I'd like to see it done and see how it works out.
Might not because of the cost and I have the 8hp. Could do anther project though like a bike for it. I have 2 of these gearboxes, 1 (almost 2) horizontal engines that run, and 3 verticals.
H60
6.5 clone
8hp Briggs
10hp Tecumseh
15.5 Kohler
And a bunch of other motors I can get running... 5.3 Tecumseh, 8hp Tecumseh, 6.75 Briggs, 7hp Tecumseh, 13.5 Briggs, probably a few more.
I need to figure out what motors are going where
How would using the output shaft as the in and out give you gears and reverse :toetap05: Looks like it would just be a straight shot, changing gears would only change what the free wheeling input shaft was doing![]()
No I'd leave the output shaft the original. The input (front) shaft is driven off bevel gears to the vertical input. I can take the bevel gears out, and machine a new input shaft that is longer so it sticks out the case more. I can put a sprocket on that.
The 8hp is more power though.... An I wouldn't have to botch up the frame. I DUNNO. ahha
