1978 8hp briggs and stratton vertical shaft, and 3 speed foote transmission. 18" carlisle rear tires and vintage 15" ribbed sears front tires. the frame is a home made off craigslist (modded by me).

engine and trans came from a really nice guy name Randy.

i plan on using a centrifugal belt clutch to connect the engine-trans in a 1:1 ratio. going to have to mess with heights on that to get the belt to clear the axle but not be ridiculously high..

these pics are MOCK UP ONLY! everything is crooked! dont worry.

I'm glad you are putting it to use, I would have just sent it all to the scrap yard

its gonna be run till the block disintegrates haha. good parts, strong built and american.

i did notice oil has wet the crankshaft and area around the seal... so i might actually have a spare seal so if i do ill replace it, if not ill buy one.

as you can see in the pics ive cleaned it up a bit.

what do u want ur gear ratio to be?

25mph in top gear would be good enough. i want to be able to get up some nice hills and maybe even tow something.

its not a good design for speed, when it was in its last life i learned that pretty quick. i have some permanent scar tissue on my right knee...

progress is good.

i used some of a lawn mower frame, lawn mower blade cut up, and pieces of a basketball backboard frame...

this is with a briggs engine plate, cut off a murray rider

tranny laying on there. not much is welded, remember that...

engine sitting on there

heres the pieces of a lawn mower blade

back view. i really like this arrangement

other pieces of the lawn mower blade...

maybe ill mount this up front under the steering wheel.... but the battery will probably go under the steering shaft. need to find a fuel pump. how would that work out? ill have a 12v power supply

the briggs is an E start i see, this isint going to be easy to explain but ill try, what about drilling 4 holes into the recoil housing that the gas tank can fit snuggly into it, or at least the middle can, make sure the heads of the bolts are on the inside so it dosent interfere with anything, and find a way to secure it to the recoil housing. (zip ties, even duct tape) and then gravity feed it down to the carb,

yeah i could rig it up... but id rather not. i want it to be clean looking.

i had a few ideas, one is to get one of those chrome cylinder mini bike tanks and mount it on a seat backrest that i will weld in shortly, but im not sure how that would look..

another idea is put the tank near the steering wheel somewhere on the floor.... and use a fuel pump

and of course i can put the tank back on the engine that came with it, but its old and crappy and looks SO much better with it off....

I would just put the gas tank over the transmission, or possible dual gas tanks over either wheel. A round gas tank would be cool too, I might be able to make one (not chrome) for you if your interested.

i think a tube-type one would be pretty cool over the tranny. like this. i can mount it on the back rest ill put in later.

think i should run a gear oil or something? i dont know if motor oil will be too thin. 90wt work?

yeah theyre expensive hha. im gonna wait to get it running, with a redneck gas tank, then once i know it works good i will go ahead and buy a nice tank... i guess....

i dont think i need to use that safety switch as long as i make sure its in neutral before i start the engine?

To hard to find!!!!

yeah. google searches will begin now

Once again, I think you should just make one, as long as your fine with painting it instead of chrome. You could probably make one for $20.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, I think i might have an issue with planning out every detail before I touch the angle grinder(Not that I think that's a bad thing).

As long as you use thicker metal you will be fine. My first try at making one with 16ga steel worked out great!

i dont have any metal in that shape right now lol so ill just get it running first then make a tank

i welded the tranny and engine mount but its kinda weak... itll need a ton of structure

update from a few days ago. ive been to busy to post these pics.

new engine mounts, my neighbor had a free bed frame at the street so i took it and this angle is MUCH better and thicker.

i began to work on a battery mount. same steel from the free bed frame.
