Yeah- I guess for a pile 'O' scrap metal (quite literally), it coulda looked worse...

PERFORMANCE REPORT-

The moment I got home from work, the kids were all over me to drive it. So, I fired it up... I'm very pleased to say that after two full hours of them relentlessly hammering it the backyard, it took it and asked for more. The engine never stalled (even with the low oil sensor intact), the clutch did it's thing without getting too hot, it never threw a chain, Nothing broke... BEAUTY! Daddy is PLEASED!:auto:

The only fault was predictable. For kicks and giggles, I had screwed a length of 1" chrome tube to the muffler for a tailpipe. Right at the end, it fell off. I knew it would- sheetmetal screws don't like vibration, and believe me, that baby was BOUNCING! So, the only "repair" I have to make is to rivet or bolt the tailpipe back on. BFD.

Oh yeah- And powerwash the danged thang! My wife mowed a "track" in the long grass, and it is absolutely covered in grass!:censored: It was SHINY 24 hours ago!!!

:roflol:You're just jealous 'cus he's got lights and YOU DON't. Should we start a bet pool as to how long that super duty wiring job he did lasts? I'll throw 5 cents at 5 minutes without using the lights, 2 with them on (what's that burning smell?!?!):roflol:

Bar st- I mean bench racing bragging rights to who ever he is, REAL ones go to you!!:cheers2:

Thanks guys!

Hoot- This is a rigid frame (no suspension).

Dave- Right now, I have it geared at 12:1, so the kids can get used to things without takin' out the house. Later, I will gear it higher once they become proficient, I will raise the ratio. In case you're wondering, top speed is a whopping 13MPH while they learn. On the other hand, it's got enough torque to pull a house!!! Again, this low ratio and speed is temporary.

j.conception- get in my sons' way at your own risk!

machinist- I believe I have ripped out better looking wiring. And thanks!

I seriously think you could probably sell the design for this kart to John Deere and watch it become a production kart pretty quickly, This is beautiful work.
