Bought this go kart for $40.00. It came with a tecumseh 6.5 hp engine that has good compression and spark. The carb is gunked up very bad. Can anyone tell me what this cart may be?

Looks like a 150cc or 110cc mini buggy front end fused with a dead axle go kart.
Custom hybrid maybe

Pics of the front end help too.

It has a swing arm rear end. I am planning on taking the original one off in rebuilding a new one. I would like to move the engine to the center and run a live axle. I would also like to remove the center shock and replace it with a shock on each side of the swingarm

In no way does DIYGK condone this type of activity; drinking & driving, in any situation, is just plain dumb!

None of that seems too difficult, although, IIWM, I'd re-engineer the existing swingarm as opposed to starting fresh...

Fabroman. I was thinking about what you said by modifying the rear swing arm instead of building a whole new one. That is most likely what I will do. It will save a few extra bucks

Well I went out to the shop today and tinkered a bit on the buggy/kart. I removed the rear shock and swing arm. I will try to post some pictures tomorrow before I head in to work

I will be using most of the original. I just want to get rid of the dead axle and install a live axle. I am also looking in to using golf cart wheels and tires since I have a set of those in the barn.

I have looking all over about this kart. The only one I found that resembles this kart is a carter kart. I will post a pic soon

First, carefully cut off the engine mount then, IMO, you need to remove the sections marked in red in the pic below; this will create areas for the sprocket & brake disc on the new axle; don't just cut them off, you need to create a flap to close off the tubes; given the shape of the frame, this should keep the strength in it
