Also spent a lot of years on the "Incident Review Comittee". Hard to get people to understand that "accident" means "unintentional", not "unpreventable"

That must be a government thing
We have a very basic method
If u ever stuff up or u see anyone stuff up
U will hear "that's a box!!!"
Basically if u stuff up u have to buy a carton of beer for the workshop
Then all the "donated" beers are drunk on Friday athernoon
There's an A3 poster in the wall outlining the rules of the carton policy
That must be a government thing

The point of the review committee was mainly to determine:
Was the accident preventable? (usually yes)
Was it preventable by our employee? (most of the time)
If preventable, was it due to simple or gross neglect ?
What can be done to prevent a repeat of the incident ?
If there was an injury involved the same basic procedure was followed.
If a private citizen was injured then the whole thing went to the main headquarters for review.
95% of the time the accident was the result of not following rules already in place.

That's all done by our saftey department that like to make (excuse my French)

If u stuff up bad ennough then the Mines Commission gets involed
If u got that far then u are better off just walking off site and not coming back
Rules like if u blow out an air filter its a $25,000 individual fine
And a $250,000 for the company

We had our share of BS regulations as well. The commitee I was on was primarily to see why the accident occured and how it can be prevented from happening again. Other than finding someone negligent (which only meant a copy went in their records), we didn't have any punitive authority. There was a right to appeal our decision, although most times it wasn't.

yea we are in the same industry and as it is im properly working with more kiwis than rusty
although the kwis are from the 9 state of Australia

from experience going to schools and working with them
not sure about the hard workers
but the makeing up storys bit is true
they are generally considered really arrogant

Of coarse they do! With retrofitted air condition!
We have 2x of them. They probably are the oldest POS in our fleet. Nice and easy to work on tho.
We have 9N in the workshop atm. Surprise, surprise the sump is leaking, just after it was fitted. **** CAT and those bloody sumps!

stupid amounts of 515 stop the leaks
people always forget to put it on the gasket joints and that stuffs them
started up the truck today
went great untill we tried to bleed the steering up
first action was to instantly blow the pressure line right at the pump
Pirtek out tommorow and she will be all go
