I have too...I just ordered a carb and spacer for that engine...I hope it runs...I'll tinker around with it tomorrow. Maybe find a plug for it and spray a little acetone into the head and spin it up. If it tries to run that will be enough of a sign for me to know that I have something to work with. It'll be fun anyway. It's a Honda GX 340, kinda big for my personal uses but who knows. If it was electric start it would be on.

I just wish I could find a frame somewhere that a previous owner hasn't hacked or stuck a torch or welder too. I just don't think it's gonna happen!

Oh well.

This will be another nice project I think.

Well the clutch is a good $100 at least.....1" shaft clutches arent cheap......
Check to see if it has a ring gear and magnets... might be a quick upgrade for your E-start...

Will do...I didn't see a place to mount a starter, but that doesn't mean anything either. I don't know what that thing came off of. I don't think it was on the Streaker though.

The clutch is massive. That's for sure. I'm not a fan of centrifugal clutches...but it's already there so...

I'll mess with it in a little while. I have an ear infection and feel like crap.

Video of me tinkering with the GX 340. The old jeans on the floor are what I had wadded up to kneel down on to keep from tearing up my knees on the concrete. And the are good rags now too...I tore them up.

Don't try this at home kids!!! If the engine backfires or has a stuck intake valve you are gonna be in deep sh!t!!!

Don't ask me how I know.

ahh I see now... well it has the provisions to accept a starting mechanism....
I faintly recall someone somewhere had did a E-start conversion to a motor like this...

Required some drilling of the hole and fiddling/threading to make it work... With the E-start kits its pretty doable....

Looking at the Youtube, there is a bunch of E-start conversions of the big block Honda's/clones... and a few of the Briggs...

Yea, just be careful if you try this...I cant say this enough and never use a slow vaporizing fuel like gasoline...

I was doing this with an old Tecumseh and it had an intermittent valve sticking that I was unaware of and I burnt the hair on my leg and set my shoe on fire. Could have been worse. So it does have its dangers.

That's a big engine. I think it would be great for a buggy or 2 seater but might be overkill for a standard kart so I'm not sure what I am going to do with it yet. I find that a 212 will move a large kart along fast enough even with the governor in tact if the gearing is right.

Here is a stage one predator 212 on a Murray Explorer. No tricks and governor still in place. As you can see it goes along pretty well for a big cart carrying a big man. I am 6'2" 285 pounds so...

Oh yea, and don't pour it into the fuel tank, or into a carb...acetone doesn't play nice with rubber lines, gaskets, and o'rings...most plastics either...

I'm just saying all this in case someone tries this...I don't want anyone hurt nor do I want anyone's property damaged...

It's one thing to say don't try this at home....it's often a good reason to say why. Some of my more experienced and knowledgeable fellow mechs know this, but then some don't.

Haha I've had a few close calls with minor explosions too but never tried that . That thing is ripping especially with a guy your size. Was there a torque converter on it? I redid a roadster for the boys last year with a 212, no governor, 18lb valve springs and it is a lot of fun to drive.

You are right about that. It is fun to slam the brakes and jerk the wheel at speed. I can get it to 360 and squeal the tires out of the hole again. The wide axle helps it from being so tippy
