Here is a small fan that puts out some serious air flow for it's size. It is rated at 220 CFM it is brushless and has ball bearings. If need be I can wire in a rectifier and run this fan for low speed cooling.

Gotta love those high CFM turbo pancakes!!!!!! One of the cool things about working third shift at my current job is restarting the machine shop Sunday night...... The newest CNC's are all fan on demand; the old ones though.... It's extremely quiet...... Then you start throwing main switches..... A chorus of high speed fans, some as big as 1200 watts, all spool up riding atop the low tone 60 cycle hum of the rest of the system coming to life.....have 4~5 guys repeat that 10~12 times in a minute, minute and a half...... WOW.......

Beware another stupid idea...

Now that I see that cutout... just for the looks.. mount one of your PC fans right there (matching size of course)
it won't help, maybe even harm slightly (if not powered).. but it'd look awesome!

A total Yes..
Well, if possible tilted to sit flush with the faceplate; but yes :D

I'd even leave it flat black as it is..
just a decal printed (or better one of those round aluminium dog tags engraved) with your name on it on the hub

Awesome.

I think you could velcro a small RC batpack under the tank hidden from view ;)

:idea2: :idea2: :idea2: The hub looks like a great spot for a DYI sticker; if you are worried about how well they hold up, the one I won the photo contest with a couple of years ago has survived several years of abuse stuck to the head stock of one of the CNC's I used to run and is still hanging in there (including surviving a former coworkers attempt to deface/ remove it).

I'm pretty sure Sir Robert will give you permission to do so....... :cheers2:

If I use this fan I do not need a battery pack, this engine has it's own AC generator and when it is wired up to the correct rectifier it will put out 12V a and I can run the fan with that if need be.

You won't need a fan, surely. It looks so wonderfully simple and elegant as it is.
More than likely not, now one can see why I cut away the as Alex calls it the "badge area" which would be correct because now there is a lot better chance rushing air to hit the cooling fins as one can see through the opening, but as you know if you have ever followed any of my testing post then you would know I like to prove modifications that I make, I think I will be fine without a fan and then I will cover the opening over with a small thin grille. Time will tell.

Well....you can have more than one....and I have a pic to prove it!

Wanna see?:lolgoku:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :lolgoku:

So I have made some progress today. I made some fuel tank mounting brackets and mounted the fuel tank, I have drilled and mounted the seat and I took the mini bike out of the shop and coasted it down a long steep hill in order to check the rear brake out and they work excellent! Then I put the engine in the frame and began to ponder ideas what I need to do before I test drive this thing. After a trip to the second hand store here locally I returned with a small stainless steel pot that will work perfect for a cover for the clutch. I will modify this pot to bolt down to the engine securely and cut some ventilation holes in and out and I will mill out a location for the chain to exit. The price of the pot was 50 cents.

Will you make a cover to hide all those spaces in the block behind the pot?
I guess they would help for cooling, or also just collect dust dirt and rocks.
Maybe some stainless screen.

Its like a Kelly Wood thing.... With a cooking theme:lolgoku:
