I had no wiring or ignition stuff from the car. So this is what I did.

I bought a dura-spark module from autozone for the 79 car.

I hard wired it to the distributor and used a universal coil and ballast resistor.

I learned that the carb I have is a Holley 6500 electronic feedback carb and not a plain 5200. It is an early form of fuel injection that uses an 02 sensor, temp sensor, and vacuum data to calculate emissions , and a crude Ecu sends a 10hz signal to a solenoid in the main jet to adjust afr . I think the duty cycle has to change to adjust mixture. I plan on making a simple circuit so I can adjust the afr on the fly in the cab.

Yeah hopefully it works ok.

The crossover pipe is fabed up from car parts store universal stuff.

Not pretty but functional and 2 1/4 ,factory is 2in.

Need to get a 70in driveshaft made or found.

Is converting to a serpentine belt on a future things to do or do you plan on keeping the old school V-belts?

V belt for now. The dayco belts are not cheap so I’ll run it until I have problems.


I have a y pipe sitting in my yard , freshly painted . And 4.0l hooker headers . Anybody want? Lol

I tried but the Wireless connection was not enough.

Need to hardwire the trans to axle lol.


The factory 2 piece shaft is too short, and I want to convert to a 1 piece shaft.

Still doing research, I dont want to pay that.


Got the charging system done. And the front clip is back on.

For now I am using the fuel pump from my Briggs twin kart.

Got the oil , temp, fuel , and voltmeter working. I will use an external tach for now and judge speed from that.

Ready for shaft, I got a slip yoke and flange for the back.

An option for speed is to get a MPH app for your phone. I used one for my jeep when i changed tires. Worked well. Has max speed too.

Too weak of fuel pressure is the demise of many a turbo engine. Be careful there.

For driveshaft have you considered a longer one from a junkyard that you could have a shop cut down and weld a new end onto?

Yeah I will need the gps app .

I plan to upgrade the pump after the clutch break in.

I found a place that will make it for $270 shipped with u joints, balanced ready to go.

I think that is good for a 70in 3.5in driveshaft.

After I double check the measurements I will order it.

I ordered the driveshaft , so I need to fabricate a clutch petal, mount the throttle cable, get an air cleaner , and finish the Downpipe before it arrives. And some dumb little things. Then ready for action.
