i havent done any off roading lately. i had the valve cover off the engine today, and i just noticed the left side wheel had about 1 inch of suspension travel... looked underneath and saw that.

i have noticed that tire has been rubbing more and more over the past week.

so then i had to put the engine back together in a bad mood. but it ended up looking alright. i have a few more pics ill post later

heres the truck now, im going to get a estimate at an auto place. i limped there at like 10mph...

id just hammer the fenders out and then bend the side of it kinda like a fender flare this may not be the best idea but its free and it will stop your problem a lot of people do it around here when they want to put bigger tiers on a stock truck

Ok,

1) PUNCTUATION, use it.

2) That sounds like a horrifically redneck idea...and not the good kind. Aside from the fact that it would look HORRIBLE, with the amount of rust on this truck, he'd likely run into some "swiss cheese". Rusty swiss cheese metal + hammer = cracking.

well i think the major problem now is the shock tower. its driveable the way it was before that broke

thats probilly why i see it in alabama dumb rednecks but i would do it and im not one and they dont look bad at all but with the rust it may turn out bad

the auto shop said they cant fix it, but they reccomended a place that does this kind of work, so im going to drive it over slowly tonight to get an estimate

i would fix it myself but im using my moms car to get to school and work so she needs a rental car which is costing $50 a day, truck needs to get fixed ASAP! and i dont have much time during the week....

ill find out tomorrow. if i had to get the parts and do it myself, it would be around $300-350. but im not set up to do this kind of work and i need it done FAST

If you have the money, while they are already taking the front end apart, get new front coils. The stock units look pretty rusty, and they've no doubt sagged over time.
Most people upgrade to the MOOG CC822 springs, they're a heavy duty version of the stock replacement spring so the truck will be more level without screwing your alignment.

edit:

To me, that spring bucket would be a one day project at most, a shop or stealership will probably take longer than you will. Jack and support the frame, pull the coils, grind off the rivets, bolt on the new bracket. Then throw your new coils in at the same time.

Here's the bucket for a pretty good price, even if you had to overnight or 2-day ship it you'd save piles of cash over a shop rate...

ahhhhhhhhhh i should have done that. once i hear from them tomorrow ill decide.

i almost got the moog springs once, but i didnt cause i was afraid it would mess up the alignment. someone on the ford truck forum had issues when he changed them and he had to get different bushings for the camber(i think)

the shop wanted $3,000. lol no.

Nope- Because that's not how it works, and not their problem. The service advisor looks in a reference book- the book provides an average of how many hours it takes to do the particular task. He multiplies that by their shop rate, adds parts costs, incidentals, and taxes- and that is how they arrive at the estimate. They could care less if you're asking for more work than the vehicle's worth- and neither would I... Why?

It's your money. If you want to pay my $3000 to fix something worth $1000, I will gladly take your money. That's business!

I don't know how it works where you are, but here, they can't do that. The best they could do is refuse the work.

A friend just sent his car to get serviced but they reported him for illegal mods to the suspension by the PO the cops yellow stickered it and put it over the pits

Turns out when they say u can lower a car by cutting the spring u can't just remove the springs and cut them roughly with a grinder
