you had better practice those "burnouts". lol.

Haha. Your from up north. Have fun starting the truck in the winter if you convert to carb... Plus EVERY fuel injected vehicle IS more fuel efficient than the same engine would with a carb on it. You dont see prius or any vehicle built past the 80's with a carb on it. You know why? Its called the EPA. They forced carmakers to go to FI to get emmisions in check and you know what emmisions are right? Mainly unburnt fuel...
i had no problem starting my carbed 81 last winter and it had got as cold as -30*c but felt like -40 with the wind. i think it has more to do with how well you maintain your vehicle and about how good of a battery you have.

did you paint the right front tire or something?

heres the story:

i went off roading saturday. on sunday morning, my tire was flat. i filled it back up, and the leak was around the bead, just some dirt in there. there was also a nail in it. it was NOT leaking though.

but.... my parents made me go to pepboys(the only place open) to have them fix it, they were worried that it would be unsafe if i tried to fix it myself

pepboys just bull****ted and said the "puncture was too large in diameter to plug" so my parents made me get a new tire.... then when i looked at the old tire, the nail had only gone into the TREAD. it did not puncture.

ALSO... pepboys did a horrible job balancing the tire so when i go past 50mph i get a nasty wobble

im pretty upset about the whole thing. i saw a nice pair of 33's on craigslist but my parents wouldnt let me buy them.

oh and my parents made me wash the truck):

Complain to PepBoy's corporate, that's unacceptable. I'd demand they take the new tire back and pay someone else to mount and balance the old tire. Idiots like that give us non-idiots a bad name.

They made you wash it so it doesn't sprout more rust.

Heck even better. just demand a refund. keep the tire. and have them re balance it.

by tomorrow i will have 33's on it. found an amazing deal on craigslist. im getting a front drive shaft, visor, and 33's with good tread mounted on alum rims, for $200!

so my mom got a punctured tire a while ago.... took it to town fair tire and they said they cant plug it BY LAW because it had less than 75% tread left. they said she needed all 4 tires which would cost $800

then she took it to the local mechanic. they plugged it and charged her $5.

Man... You gotta invest in a plug kit and spare yourself all the bull. I've been plugging my own tires for over 20 years and never had a plug fail...

The worst I had was last year. I ran over both prongs of a 4" presto pin. You should have seen the tire damage! Took me SIX plugs to get that puppy to hold it's air... and still does...

Being a contractor, puncture wounds in my tires are a way of life. You can't visit very many construction sites without getting nailed. Literally. Do yourself a favour!

I can just see the pissed off service adviser handing the work order to another idiot tech who then proceeds to put the wheel weights on the opposite side of the wheel...on purpose.

+1. They're cheap and easy to do. Just be sure to get the T handle ones, and not the screwdriver handle. Your palms will thank you.

Hell, this may just be me being crazy but patching a tire isn't hard if you're good at taking tires off rims. Plugging is easy and the kits are dirt cheap... hell slime even makes a multi kit if you want to spend big money.

that looks like a great kit. i might drop the $50 on it or just get a standard plug kit at the auto store

+1 on the T-handles. Makes a world of difference, especially on truck tires. Sometimes, you're in for a bit of a fight getting between the steel cords on truck tires. A couple times in the past, I have actually drilled a small puncture hole larger to be able to plug it.

If you get a plug kit, buy a can of rubber (contact) cement with a brush applicator. I have found that once you open one of those little tubes, it doesn't last very long. Then, the next time you go to apply a plug, it's dried out.

i wanted too, it looks cool that way lol

got an amazing deal today. for $170 i got floor mats, Lund visor, 4x4 shifter boot trim, black alum rims and 33 inch tires with great tread. also came with chrome lug nuts and security lugs.

heres a pic with the 33's. sorry it was dark. im going to put the visor on tomorrow and take more pics

also since i bent the bumper in from off roading the tire rubbed bad when i turned. i tried tieing it to a tree and driving in reverse, so redneck lol, but it only bent it back like an inch so i took out my grinder and took a few more inches off it.

i plan to build a front bumper from scratch because its just so messed up now

i think you almost need to get a come-along. they come in handy for pulling stuff straight without pulling too far. i know we kind of straightened the bumper on my dads ford that way.

whats a come along?

i chopped off a little of the bumper on the side so it clears fine now. not going to stay, though. i want to build some kind of bumper. not those crazy ones with the bush bars and round tubing sticking out all over. just a rectangular piece with angled sides, and some tow hooks in it. maybe removable winch mount?
