good idea. but i have new leafs and stuff. i bet a frame wouldnt cost too much, right?

i have 100 now, make about 20 a week, might get 600 over the summer if i can get some work.

ill start looking, cause i dont know how id fix the frame.... its so gone

A donor truck with other issues would likely be cheaper than just a frame that someone's gone through the time and effort of stripping down. A junkyard may or may not sell a frame, since they are stamped with a VIN and technically have to stay with the same VIN body and title.

I'd say somewhere around a metric crapton. Probably a lot of mag chloride too, that stuff is even nastier. It even rots concrete.

yeah i could get a truck and swap in the motor, i guess, but my motor has tons of miles on it and looks tired.... i dont have an engine lift, school is ending.

my shop teacher gave me advice to just enjoy the truck as it is, and my next truck will be nicer

that is some good advise but just be careful with it. this is a learning experience. you will know what to look at better next time. just because an engine looks tired don't mean anything. when you pull an engine it is the perfect time to paint it and make it look pretty. it is amazing what a tiny bit of paint and a pressure washer will do.

hmm why not just try and beef the frame up? Im sure you can do it some how.

that looks sweet! my motor has EFI though so you have that big ugly manifold go over the valve cover.. theres a lot of stuff under the hood

ill just do as best i can and itll definitely end up better than it was... someone really didnt take care of this truck

Bman, yeah but its so rusted i dont know if i can even weld on it because when i grind it down there wont be anything left lol. i dont know how far back in the frame there actually is metal

i always forget how ugly it is under the hood of a fuel injected truck. i guess i have spent too much time working on my carbed truck.

i think you should just keep saving up some money and try to find a decent summer job and hopefully you will be able to afford another truck.

Well find where it does and build it up. its the best easy cheap way possible.

I quite like the Dodge trucks from 72-93, preferably late 70s though.

My brother is planning to build a 70s with a cummins. Ought to be good.

i also like the 70's dodges but trying to find one is getting hard here. i was lucky to find this thing.

a 70's ram with a Cummins would be sweet but i think it would be easier to swap the 70's body onto a frame with a Cummins already in it.

Fortunatly, my brother has lots of parts for them, and my dad has a 75 4 speed 360. Im planning on getting it running and putting new body on it. the cab, fender and doors are pretty much shot, but we have parts I can use.

Biggest problem will be the paint haha.

i hear ya. there is only so much you can do in the driveway before you need a shop to finish up. i want to clean up and paint all 3 of my dodges but i don't know it if that will ever happen unless i get a shop. i got most of the tools and knowledge. just don't have the space to do the work.

im not putting very much more money into this until the frame is fixed. after that, i think ill take off the throttle body, clean it up, new cap and rotor, take the valve cover off and clean out all the sludge, paint stuff under the hood.

Too bad you wasnt local to me, giy not to far could weld that up good as new. guy is very good with metal and welding.
