Eh, I think they sound way too ricey with a single glasspack. Now if you want to run true duals out to the bumper, then it would sound pretty great.

Oh really? Gee, I would have absolutely no idea, seeing as I own one of these trucks....

Um, what? That suggestion totally helps this thread out. :mad2:

he probably only read the first page lol

since a cherry bomb is so cheap and easy i might just get one and try it.

so you dont have cats? i still have to pass emissions one more time (i believe) because (i think) once the vehicle is 25 years old you dont need to get emissions tests anymore.

i also think its illegal to not have cats

im going to have to get all new exhaust mounts because the ONLY thing attaching my exhaust right now is the headers... and the bungie straps lol

newrider, whats the pipe diameter? i cant check myself right now because im away

EDIT: and id love to make an exhaust like you have but i dont have that much money.. did you buy a kit or fab the whole thing? kits seem to be around $300

I built my pipes from manifolds to tails for about $100, used u-bends from Summit Racing and welded the whole thing rather than having pipe bent by a shop. I don't have cats, but since they recently re-added emissions testing in my county and removed the rolling 25-year exemption (bastards) I should have them, may have to add them if I can't pass roadside testing.

It's the law here! And, we are subjected to pollution tests at vehicle registration, and every two years from then on, in order to keep a vehicle licensed. The testing also includes a visual component inspection- and your cat had better be there!

i think it is a federal law that they have to be there if the truck came with them.

I have an easy fix for that...

Those are for when I run true duals. I did the same thing to the cat that's on there now.

ive seen some people hollow out the cats by smashing out all the stuff inside. also illegal but whos checking inside of your cat?

mine has 2 cats..meowmeow.. also the tube for the (EGR?) is not connected its an open hole...

ive been thinking about removing all the emissions hoses and crap that arent even connected to anything just to get more room under the hood and maybe itll run cooler, but it doesnt sound legal...... and i still need to pass emissions but they dont do anything anyways?

i might have already said this but im pretty sure the reason why it passed emissions by a landslide last time is because the tailpipe was barely connected to the muffler haha

I had gutted the cat, but it screwed with the flow and sounded like crap. My truck was actually just inspected last week.

That's probably not the EGR. Post a pic and we can ID it. Leave the emissions stuff, though, especially the EGR. Removing the EGR requires rejetting and recurving the distributor.

that is why i like my 81. no emission testing. my truck has never been in an emission testing shop even when i bought it. it would probably fail visual. cat is there but all other emission stuff is missing.

all the emissions stuff is fallen apart and rusted, hoses gone, most stuff doesnt connect to anything. theres what looks like an air pump under the alternator and its in real bad condition.

ill make a video tomorrow if i can of the exhaust and under the hood.

if i ever needed a visual inspection id be screwed. my floor is almost gone, and my seat belt is tied under the seat... i plan to fix that when i get money

btw, got the useless fuel tank out

and i found why the speedo isnt working. i need to figure out where this goes.

Into the side of the tailhousing of either the transmission or transfer case (can't remember if you have 4x2 or 4x4). That drive cable may be broken, I've never seen one that separates from the drive gear.

i have a 4x4. cant find anywhere where it would go to. (whats a tailhousing?)

i spun the cable with my finger and the odometer changed slightly so i know that part works.

just ordered this from JEG'S
