You mentioned using a spacer on the driver. If you remove it and slide the driver all the way on the crankshaft, then remove the jackshaft sprocket and relocate it to the other side, will the driven then have enough room to open? If so, you can slide the axle sprocket over and just cut a keyway where you need it with a dremel or other small grinder.

ok i finally got everything to line uo with the driven pully facing inbound...the correct way.what i did was slide the sprocket over more toward the engine then i raised the engine 2inches so that the chain runs under the engine to the jackshaft now the driven unit goes on and lines up with the driver.i measured the center to center and i get 8 3/8
for the didtance but i donot see a belt that size all i see is 8 5/8 and 8 3/16 they said it has to be dead on so how to i do that
