Torque Converter Question please help

I have a Briggs & Stratton 13hp vanguard motor and I want to use a comet 500 series Torque Converter on it! The Driven pully has a 1 inch bore with a 1/4 inch keyway! Can I use it as a direct drive straight to the live axle or do I have to use it with a jackshaft? Please help!

I would recommend using a jack shaft. Chains and sprockets are cheaper than drivens and belts(in the event of a collision).

So i could use it without a jackshaft but the Jackshaft would protect the tq converter in the event of a collision?

Yea, run over a rock and you're ****ed with the driven on the axle.

And you can acheive a better drive ratio if you use a jackshaft and sprockets.

Yea that too, ratio would be too tall without final reduction.

what would you guys recommend for sproket sizes, I am in iraq and in a comp on who can build the best kart. I am looking for max low end and max top end! I was thinking because it is a 13 hp motor that a 12 and 54 tooth set up would be best with a 40chain! Do you have any other recomendations? I went ahead and ordered the jackshaft thank you for the advice! I am going against a modified kawasaki mule transformed into a ugly kart! lol
