Ok guys, what I have is a Chinese knockoff of a comet 30 series tav2 mounted on a bone stock predator 212. I have converted the kart from centrifugal clutch to torque converter. I haven't counted the sprocket teeth so I don't know the final drive ratio. I cannot post pictures at this time but trust me when I tell you that the pulley alignment is perfect. The issue I am having is that when the kart is jacked up with the back wheels off the ground the driver and driven both operate perfectly and go completely through all of their ranges. As soon as I put the kart on the ground get on it and floor the gas the driver pulley tightens up and the kart moves in its lowest ratio (about 5mph) and never progresses past there. The driven never expands and the kart doesn't go any faster. So far to correct the problem I have perfected the alignment of the sheaves nearest the engine and also applied belt dressing to the belt to maybe prevent any slippage. There has been no change so far. My next step is to try adjusting the preload on the driven spring unless you guys can tell me what's wrong with this thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I should also point out that this is a brand new unit and I am using the belt that came with it.

Now you get to learn how to disassemble the clutches and clean it all out and replace the belt before it gets all stickey with dirt and grit and wears out. Foolish kids, I'm surprised none of you other guys caught that.
