How should i gear my reverse trike with a TAV2 torque converter (10 tooth drive sprocket).
Specs:
11hp
16in tire
About 30lb bare frame

Which rear sprocket should i buy for a good top speed of around 50mph but still having good acceleration?

Thanks!

You're feeding a TAV2 11hp? What's the shaft size?

You can hit 50MPH by gearing to 3.4:1 THEORETICALLY. Geared that high, you may not have enough power to hit top speed at all.

50mph might be aiming a bit high. Bare frame weight means squat. Loaded weight including all running gear, a full tank of gas, and the driver is what counts.

What's "good" acceleration?

Thank you for a quick reply Toystory

Some sort of acceleration where one can do burnouts and get pulled back into the kart seat, but i have a question, does adding a torque converter increase top speed or just torque?

Either, or, or both depending on gearing. Adding a CVT is like adding gears. Gear low, you get more torque. Gear high, you get more speed. Find the right ratio, you gain a bit of both. Bear in mind that even a CVT only adds so much, it doesn't perform miracles. If you're looking for a tire-fryer, gear maybe 6:1 or lower and forget about that 50MPH. Still need more vehicle info to narrow it down.

Then you'd better think about upgrading to a Comet 40 or equivalent- I think you're gonna be chewing belts up like nobody's business unless you gear quite low.

I don't think 50 is in your near future. Here's why- my previous setup

310lbs combined weight
17.5" (measured) rear tires
Honda GX340 11hp, fundamentally stock
Comet 40 CVT
4.8:1 gearing
46MPH@4200RPM

Acceleration was nothing to write home about. I was considering gearing lower, but then opted for new drivetrain.

11hp should be fine with a tav2. geared reasonable ofcourse. the engine turns 3600rpm normally. and dosent create all that much more torque then say a 8hp counter part.
