I'm looking for a dingo, and I found one where the owner claims to have a TC and a C. Clutch, thus having a "secondary gear". Does anyone on here know what that means?

lol.... yeah, sounds like a scheme to make it seem like it's worth TONS AND TONS of money. Unless he's "throwing in" a separate clutch with his kart.

Could you post some pictures please?

Have no pictures of it yet...

I don't know if he's trying to set me up... It's a 5hp Dingo for $250-300. He said its in pretty good shape, only rode for 110 hours, no rust, good tires, etc. He's 5'-11 and claims to hit about 35MPH.

Is a C. Clutch and a TC on the same cart even possible?

It's possible but people don't do it because the driver unit is the clutch for the drivetrain and you wouldn't need a clutch

so is there any benefit to this? I'm new to carts, so I don't really understand how the two would work together.

definitely isnt stock. and its worse because a torque converter already has a clutch system to let you idle. so adding a cent clutch adds unnecessary slipping and youll lose some energy the more complicated your gearing is from resistance.

touche, I'm no cart genius, but I took physics. more resistance=loss of energy

so, this "secondary gear", it's B.S?

yup! but ask him for a picture, thatd be cool to see how he supposedly did it.

with a torque converter, it has unlimited "speeds" it always changes the ratio to get the most out of your engine, wether you need torque to get up a hill, or speed on flat ground, it automatically "slides" ratios. you wouldnt need an extra gear.

will do. he said I should have pictures by friday afternoon. I'll post them on here.

I should read up more on this TC stuff. especially if I buy a dingo...

Also, while this thread is still active, any idea where I may be able to buy a throttle cable for a dingo?

Keep in mind, the seller may not realize what the statement sounds like...
They may be getting something confused here, people do infact make mistakes.(big surprise eh?) He could be referring the driver as the C clutch, it does use the same idea as to how it works...

Filipe, the "secondary gear" could very well mean the different gear ratio the TC provides... as Ive head a TC related to a 2 speed automatic tranns, makes sense to put it that way to me.

Untill we see some pics, we cant say the seller is full of crap.

{EDIT} wow... nearly 5 mins to write this post... lol.
:D

I'm not sure...this is how he puts it:

"its got a torque converter and has a centrifugal clutch so it has a secondary gear,"

I'll be sure to post pics on Friday, please be on the lookout!

As for the throttle cable, I think it was go kart supply that has cables specifically for the dingo, but they are ridiculously expensive. You are better off making your own with cable from your local hardware store.
