Ok.

I've been searching.

You guys convinced me.

Can I keep my 72T drive sprocket?
Which TAV do I get for my HF6.5?
Who has the cheapest/best deal?

Is there not a problem with mounting these to a clone?
Or has this problem been solved?
I was under the impression they could only be mounted straight down. Is this correct?

Good questions...I have no idea.

If I have to mount it straight down, that might cause some problems..hah

What do you mean by straight down, are you talking about a vertical crank???

If you use a tav then you can only mount it so that the backing plate can bolt to the block, but if you use a 20 series then you can put the jack shaft any where as long as you can get a belt to fit.

The TAV-2-30 Torque Averter will mount straight back on a GX200 or a GX200 clone. Some minor clearencing on the jackshaft support ribs will be needed to clear the rear oil fill on the sidecover though. Personally on my kart I just mounted mine vertically.

Just to be clear, this is what I'm talking about.
Sorry about the poor illustration, but I think you get the idea.
I have been led to believe that this is the only way it can be mounted:

But I do not have to use a jackshaft, correct?

Correct. Its a fully contained unit. Takes about 5 minutes to bolt onto the engine with 4, 5/16" x 24 bolts. I tried to get the best picture I could get without natural day light. Jerry has mounted the same converter towards the FRONT of the GX200 clone engine before.

on northerntool.com under gokart parts and then torque converters it says this "Weatherproof system is completely mechanical and can be mounted in any position."
