They are very strong. Watch the show. IIRC they get the Toyota Hilux and they drop it from like 10m in the air, they hit it with a wrecking ball, they submerge it completely in salt water for 6 hours, they set fire to it, then put it on top of a 50 storey building and then demolish the building with explosives.

AND IT STILL WORKS!

I can't imagine any American made POS ute or "truck" surviving that.

I think they said it best in the Simpsons movie:
Barney: "Isn't anything here made in America?"
Moe: Pulls out the shotgun. "Just this"... then it explodes in his face. I laughed SO hard at that point :roflol:

Hehe, I saw a red Hilux that looked EXACTLY like the Top gear one (albeit no rust) driving around our neighborhood

most of the stuff they did to that truck just bent the body panels, burned a little of the interior, and caused a little structural damage, except for submerging it. But when it was underwater it wasnt even running and sucking in water, so theres little chance it could have been hydrolocked.

There are quite a few cars built in North America that could withstand those tests and a few vehicles could withstand a whole lot more.
