Hey guys I’m building a go kart out of a little tykes race car bed and have a video up on you tube and would love any advice I can get!!
https://youtu.be/MRgNDQfubhI

Have you ever went 100 MPH ~6" off of the ground?
...it's NOT like doin' 100 MPH in a car or even on a motorcycle
(& cars & motorcycles are professionally designed)

So, your goin' with a HUGE engine :smiley_omg:
...on a simple stacked, square tube frame :ack2:
...with very little actual engineering designed in :furious2:
...a plastic body
…& aimin' for 100 MPH :cheers2:

I like your enthusiasm
...but, with this plan, I can easily see a body cast in your future

* Advise: If you proceed PLEASE be careful :2guns:

Awesome!! I think most shifter karts are around 41 so it’s not far off those

Well the frame you see is just the base theirs going to be much more added to it and I’m not by any stretch of the imagination an engineer but I’ve built a lot of projects so I have an idea about what I’m doing and no I’ve never gone 100mph 6 in off the ground but I’d like too it will be a gradual venture and I will call it good when I start feeling unsafe but hey shoot for the stars and if you fall short you still probably made it pretty far!!

lol, it's not too late for you to get in with me on the policy I am gonna take out on ol'boy if you want! Better act now before time runs out! This is a limited time offer! I am still waiting for him to send me his personal info from Utah! I'm thinking if we keep it below 250 grand and he makes it look like an accident we will be good to go! :D We are already off to a good start! He has decided to wrap himself in a kiddie bed powered by a 500cc Honda motorcycle engine driving a 6 speed gearbox enclosed only in blue abs plastic going across the Utah flats! I forsee this as being EPIC!!! Either way...It will either be EPIC FAIL or EPIC WIN!!! I just wanna see the build!!! And I really don't want bruh to get hurt cause I seriously think he has mad skills going on ;) Besides, I am sure he has the cutest little girl and a kicking wife even though I have seen neither...but he did build her that awesome mini-banshee right?!?! So it must be true! LOL!!! I think he's got this!!!

Maybe this should all be compiled into a single build thread...

But yeah, can't wait to see it finished!

Lookin' good!

I really like (most) everything your doin'
...except that 100MPH goal :ack2:

So, I put together a quick video, for ya :cheers2:

It's my Atom kart goin ~35MPH :2guns:

...then, I sped the video up x2 to kinda show what ~70MPH would/should look like
…& then, x3 to show what ~100MPH would/should look like (in a kart ~6" off of the ground) :smiley_omg:

I’ve done about 75 in a 125cc shifter kart and I don’t know if I’ll ever get it to 100 but it’s a goal and as soon as it feels unstable I will shut it down

Well I posted the 3rd video in the 2nd thread since someone more politely mentioned it so I guess thank you for merging the two, I’m new to the forum and just wasn’t aware!

No problem..
the lack of grinning emojies makes my previous post sound unreasonably harsh
(now reading that again)
I swear my face wore it's mildly sarcastic but still friendly smile while typing ;)

Especially since I saw the third video in that second thread
I already expected more a mistake/misunderstanding than anything else really.
So sorry if that sounded a bit harsh at first

Yea, you gotta be careful around here man.

I've been following your vids and I think they're great. My youtube account is listed under W U.

Anyway, keep up the great work on the kart and thanks for thinking outside the box.

When I first seen that little blue car I was thinking no way...then when you pulled out the tig welder and started boxing up the frame and started getting serious I was like-- wait a tick! This dude ain't playing.

Now I am really interested to see how you are going to incorporate it all together. Personally I don't care if you get it up to your estimated max speed or not...I just want to see the thing mesh into a dynamic work of art in motion. I want to see it be driveable, safe, functional in that you can climb into the seat and crank it up and drive it without doing anything hokey to get it to work every time. Fully functional. Brakes, steering, starting, clutching, shifting, cooling system...

So far you have spared no expense in craftsmanship. Hang in there. And keep Danicka safe and hanging out with you as much as you can! And get her Banshee going I wanna see some vids of you guys kicking up the Utah sand with those things!

Spent a week down at Dugway Army Proving Grounds one time, back in the day...talk about seeing some weird stuff going on in the middle of the night...whoa...
