Lol my deisel has spark plugs... I also have a 27 horse turbo charged liquid cooled leaf blower.

u can run meth with deisel strait also propaine and other crap... you can run a diesel off old motor oil... ask anyone who has had a diesel run away turbo blows engine feeds its own oil into the intake goin through and basicaly makes it run like a bat outa hell.
yes, i am aware of Diesel's fuel flexibilty. the very first ones, if i remember correctly ran on peanut oil. but if running straight methanol, will it run without a glow or spark plug? i've read guys running 17:1 on a 6.5 and meth.

What I don't get is starting- It uses a compression release to make it easier to pull start...

probaly works at the lowest rpms till it gets some momentum then fires over. or just has somethign to do with releasing the compression till the cylinders get a good bit of fuel in em.

Kyle, my leaf blower is a caddy too, the liquid cooling was what added the extra 2hp. I was considering a sticker kit for an added 5-10 horse.
its the power of god. i really dont know you got me stumped.
it is mechanically injected fuel, it won't fire without fuel. you have to get it to spin before it will send fuel to the injector. our clones on pull starting only have 60-90psi. when the comp release releases, it can go up to 160psi w/ a comp ratio of 8.5:1. the diesel, i believe i read has 19:1. if you didn't have a comp release, the rings were good, i doubt you would get it to pull start.

compression release lets you get the engine up to speed and as soon as it gets there it goes to full compression and it starts firing
as mike said, you couldn't get it to spin over fast enough with full compression
and i am pretty sure that methanol in the injection system would kill it as there is less lubrication

Wouldnt A diesel with an ignition system would be a normal 4 stroke (or in some cases 2 stroke)...

a diesel with a igniton system would be useless. deisel isnt flamable unless its arosaled. or compressed... hold a lighter to a pool of diesel and see it not burn
yet throw it in a plastic bottle and then add a big weight to it and drop it off your roof and watch a boom.
