Alight, I have been thinking of building my first kart. The guy has offered me this kart the way you see it for $75. Thinking of taking the plunge. Its older, but still should be fun. What do you think?

It looks nice, but keep in mind if you don't have a bunch of parts it's gonna cost you. Right off it's gonna need an engine, clutch, chain, caliper, and looks like pedals and cables.

updated my location.. not north of the border.. Just west of chicago. Guess I have a bad eye, I thought this might have been a good deal for $75. I know I would have to put into it, but I love to tinker.

Thanks for filling out that location....as you can see, I'm a little bit away from you...so I don't really know the market....

While it's true it's missing a lot, there's also quite a bit there....(kinda the old half empty/ half full syndrome) .....

If you are creative and able to fabricate....a lot of stuff can be made or substituted from other donors....(other than karts)...

Still on the fence, but welcome to the forum!!!!

Thanks, would my right leg go around the steering supports? Looks like it would be awkward to sit like that?

Sorry, meant that to flag Anderkart as he's a racer.
Was wondering if the offset seat and right side motor mount indicated a Left Turn Only (oval
racer) kart.
Is the right rear farther from the chassis than the left?

It doesn't look like the left side is any further from the chassis then the right side.

Ok.
Couldn't tell from the pic.

Think I will have to fab up a bracket for the seat, or will I be able to buy something and pop it in? Again won't know more until I have it and take the plunge...Maybe just maybe my evil plan will work..lol

The hardest thing to gauge from a single pic without a reference is size; that frame may be tiny, it may be huge, we simply can't tell; the only way to know if you will fit in it is to sit in it...

At the end of the day, if it's suitable to your needs, I don't think you will do much better, $75 is ok when you consider what is there...

All race karts are built that way however, this is not a race kart; looks symmetrical to me...

Alright, did some more research and found a guy on craigslist who is looking to buy these types of frames and had pictures of it.

I emailed him asking him if he knew what this frame was called and he email me back. He said it is a "Bug stinger". When I google that frame, sure enough it pops up and looks the same.

Was looking on ebay and there is a bar frame going for $250. If anything I think I will just pick it up.. Could be a fun project for my kids and I.

Looks like the frame is from the very early 1960's

Ok....now that's a little confusing the way you posted it....

But I assume what you meant was you are planning on picking up the $75 frame...and not the bar (bare?) frame on EBay?
