Well....I had an absolute blast helping a fellow member with his kart this morning....

five821 came over and we kinda went through his kart a little.....there was one point where I was panicking....we couldn't locate one of his bearing carrier plates....then I got to thinking and remembered where it should have been and wasn't when we broke it down!!!

Anyway...he may not have a bunch of tools....but he has the most important one.....between his ears....and we worked together really well...

Didn't quite get the sprocket busted loose....but I think it was rust keeping it from moving more than anything....and he's just going to file the last teeny bits of weld off if he ever needs to replace the sprocket....buy a new carrier shell, and he'll be good.....

We straightened and reinforced the brake band pivot....but it still needs a longer bolt.....

The one thing I meant to do and we didn't.....was clean and repack the axle bearings.....

Now...back to my own rat killing.....

(Actually.....Sammy is in the house....and it freaked him out.....but.....I can't have a rooster....(I was afraid it was)....unless I keep it in the house.....

I'll be lucky to sneak by with chickens.....roosters....no..

It don't look like a rooster. Post another pick. Some Hens will crow, when they get old and quit laying the hormones get messed up and they crow like a rooster. Its like Bruce Jenner in reverse.:smiley_omg: Or Chicken menopause.

So yesterday while out in the Yard I found and picked up a baby lizard about 1" long. Put him in a water bottle (with holes) to keep for my Son to see. Before my boy got home I found another in the garage, put him in the bottle too. They hung out with me all day (as if they had a choice, being trapped in a water bottle and all). Then my boy came home played with them and let them go. It was Cool. I would have got pics, but....:stir:I did not know at the time I would have to keep this Thread going by myself. :censored: noobs!!!

Wow....wish you'd have taken those pics....here's some baby Western Fence lizards I caught earlier this Spring.....I have a pretty healthy population of them .....but a rough winter and five years of drought have taken a toll on the geckos and anoles....but these native guys are doing alright......

(Sometimes the newbies just don't fare as well)

I remember when I first started reading it. I was like WAIT!!!! WHAT!!!!. I kept reading to see what happened with the go kart on the first page. Then I was like, I am just reading the ramblings of a mad man, I want my 45min back!!!!
Now I get it...er.... No none of us really get it.

That's why I started reading! Next thing I knew I was at page 15 going "what happened to the kart?!". By that time though I HAD to finish it!

Ramblings are sometimes the best way to learn about people, other times...ya ramblings of a mad man lol.

Kept me cracking up though that's for sure.

Makes me want to ramble on a bit over nothing any of you would have any clue about, like the happenstances of my life at its current act.

Like the other day I had an argument with my step father in law (wife's step dad) about a deck I'm helping him build.
he swears up and down that he has to fasten it to the house to make it stable. Mind you this thing only sits 2 feet off the ground from base to top.

I keep telling him there is no reason to anchor it. He's worried about the cost anyways but wants to spend more money on anchoring it. Over and over we go through this same song and dance.
I tell him all the disadvantages of anchoring it: time, cost, permanent damage to the house by drilling the holes for the bolts, potential water damage, and on top of that foundation damage. Over and over again. His plan even calls for cross bracing on the supports, supports that will be placed around every 5 feet at that.

I'm like "really? This thing is going to be bullet proof with the supports and cross bracing alone, you don't need to anchor it!"

Wouldn't listen to me. Nope I can build a house from the ground up, but my advice on decks to him is nil.

The next day one of the guys from his church comes over, older gentleman. As we're still discussing the finer points of anchoring vs non (on other words I was about to beat him over the head with a shovel) this old guy goes "we didn't anchor ours and it's held up fine".

Come to find out his deck is 5 feet from base to top and they put supports every 7 feet with cross bracing.

Naturally my step father in law (boy does it push his buttons when I say that lol) falls right in line with this older gentleman, and even tries to insinuate that I was the one that was trying to get him to anchor it.

Luckily my mother in law was listening from the kitchen window and promptly called him out on it.

Boy was he being quite the stubborn jacksass (sp? Lol)
Man's never built anything besides a sawhorse...that didn't last a month...and wants to argue with me over the finer points of construction, something I did for many years with my own step father. Some people I swear.

Ok back on topic...wait, that's the point of this thread: there is no topic!

This mad man's ramblings are over for now <~~~

I have another thread 'How was your day Honey, too...(two)?'

Which I started so everyone could just ramble about their day.....but...I don't mind it here....I ramble all over the forum.....:lolgoku:

And....I am a carpenter......but you know what every man is a carpenter....(or so they think).....

One of my favorite stories is about a surgeon....that decided to save some money doing his own carpentry work.....he cut off his hand....effectively ending a career that made him more money in a month than I see in a year.....

So a couple days ago I was saying how cool Barred Rock chickens are

Well,.....a little while ago I was trellising my cantaloupe vines when I heard my chicken and realized it had came to join me.....

I went to the back of the garden to pull some weeds....and in just a few minutes...it was in the bed digging around to see what I left it....

I went back to the front to pick some green beans....and sure enough...soon had company.....

EDIT : Just had a thought: working on that kart the other day....Sammy was right there....wonder whats going to happen when they both decide to follow me at the same time.....
