I made this thing in less than an hour I need a throttle cable. I can Idle the thing around the yard at about 10mph and use next to no gas. Only thing is its so hard to take off. 3hp briggs. Total cost- $5 for motor

I am gonna improve it alittle. Move the motor back alittle, better rear tire, a motor mount brace, and some spray paint.

Make a slot on the peg for the axle will slide out. Use an extension to get the rear wheel hub bolt off thru the middle of the peg.

If I am seeing it right it will work great.

oh BTW. a #40/41 clutch WORKS with bike sprockets.

Not really. The rear rim is not factory, the front rim is wobbly, the handle bars move back and forth when fully tightened, stickers are peeling on the frame, scratched up plus beat up, mismatched peddles, 3 rivets gone on front sprocket, no front brakes, crappy rear, ect. Might get like $20 for the bike if that so Its not really worth it.

I don't think thats welded. I think its a bolt on sandwich plate thing that comes with that kit.

i think that it is a great idea to use that engine on a bike but honestly?? I know you said it was hillbilly but dang!! you might as well use a piece of string as the throttle cable because that is about as long as it will last. I dont mean to be harsh but i honestly think it a waste of an engine with that low of support underneath it... remember that it's quality not quantity.

Working on a motorized bike of my own, just need to get a little more cash for steel for a rear rack mount... I'm using chain drive and truing up the sprocket on the back is a pain in the butt, not to mention it's much easier to get a higher ratio with a friction drive like Karl did. And no, you can't just weld the sprocket onto the back (at least not on a standard bike)

On the other hand, chain drives give you higher speed and better economy (since you don't have to ram the roller into the tire) and your tires last longer.

Question though, does the drive slip at all when you're pedal starting it?

And Blue -- I think the torque from the power stroke of an engine is more than enough to damage a bicycle sprocket.

I built it and the motor mount is plenty strong. I had my 170 lbs buddy jump on it and hit it with a sledge and it did not budge. It will last awhile. Even if the engine would fall off- witch there is no chance of that happening- it would fall on the grass and be unaffected. Why not use a 3hp briggs on a bike? There are bulletproof. It will out run and clone easy.

You cant pedal start it. To hard. I set it engine on something so the tires off the ground and pull it. One I get a kickstand on it it will be easier to take off.
