I know that there is another right below mine but I need a little bit more detail.
I have a 5hp Briggs fun power and a klipper kart not sure the of the weight but I weigh about 140
I will mostly be doing off roading (dirt, turf, gravel)
What torque converter setup do I need
Leaning more toward acceleration
Any more info I need to give?

A standard comet 30series torque converter is all you need. Buy a kit, with the backplate, and it just all bolts on..... NO measuring or guessing what belt.... The backplate keeps the clutches lined up and spaced correctly.....

I'll look around but I'll most likely go with the cheaper
On a budget

I think half-breeder has the china knock off, and hasn't had any complaints, as far as I know. You should PM him and get his opinion. He has done a ton of work on his kart, and runs it hard.

*DINGDINGDING*... AND TODAYS WINNER OF THE MOST RACIST 'sounding' COMMENT... :roflol:

... and yes I 'do' have the knockoff. I cant 'compare' it to an original Comet( seeing as that Ive never owned one)... but the 'only' thing that Ive noticed in a difference w/ the Comet is the knock off has a 3/16" key(integrated), and the Comet has a 1/4" key(integrated). The 1/16" off gives the knock off a very distinct 'noise'. To the untrained ear, upon start, an engine will have a 'clanging' sound, almost sounds like a rod about to be ejected... (the 'clanging' sound can be heard at min 1:34 real well...) Im planning on cutting a 3/16" keyway opposite side of the 1/4", on the drive shaft, to fix the 'noise'.

... other than that noise(which can only be heard at idle). I personally dont know of any difference in the 2(other than the $$$).

So then the Key that fit's the TC has about 1/16 of play on the axle? Do you suppose that with more power to speak of, and going from hard braking to full gas repeatedly, might cause the key to shear?

Nope, not at all(and its not on the axle... its on the engine's drive shaft)... If a TC made accelerating an instantaneous action(like a cent clutch), then it may become an issue... but seeing as that a TC starts off at such a low ratio, it compensates for the initial 'jerking' of the wheels upon takeoff, to a more 'smoother' acceleration(like a golf cart), but if you WoT it does tend to break traction. I run a Honda gx200(clone originator) that boasts around 10-11hp(stock only 6hp)...

They have springs that engage the TC clutch at a higher rpm. If used/gotten, then there 'could' become an issue w/ the key gap 'possibly' sheering, however doubtful. By doing so is ONLY beneficial if the engine has more power at higher rpms(normally the engines w/ a cam installed), such as for drag karts.

Also 2 additional features about the TAV2, vs most any other TC, is you have an OverDrive on it that will increase your top speed an additional 10% more than what calculations will equate(unless your engine wont push the weight at the OverDrive rpm speed), and it 'actually' has 3 different settings, on the driven, for the 'terrain' of driving, which is handy if you dont feel like upgrading to a 40 series later on, if by chance you happen to drive from street to hilly off road.
