TAV-30 surging

For starters the TAV-30 is clean and lubricated with a new belt. The gokart TAV will surge when going down a long steep hill when my foot is off of the throttle. Is this normal?

Sounds like the primary trying to backshift.

I dont know how bad yours is but when Im in OD and let off the gas going down hill I can feel it shifting into a lower gear. Mine has always done that.

check the clearance between the sheave and its slider, if you are lubing it it should be stuttering due to clearance.
